The Blackwood mansion stood beautifully tall as always, it was surrounded by golden lamps casting their rays on the building. To most, it was intimidating, a kingdom with walls too high to see through, but to Vanessa, it was the prize. The place she had been excluded from for weeks, the place where Evelyn Carter, that little nobody from a greasy diner, now slept beneath the Blackwood’s roof.
