Vanessa’s POV

The room was dim when Vanessa opened her eyes, but the warmth in her chest was the first thing she registered, the soft flutters in her chest.

She looked to her side and saw the bassinet with the baby.

Her baby, her new baby.

She lifted him into her arms, he slept with his tiny mouth parted, his cheek pressed into the curve of her collarbone. His skin was lighter than she expected, his eyelashes dark. He was perfect, too perfect.
