I would have asked more questions if Damon hadn't gotten wheeled out of the operation room at that time. I flew to my feet, running toward the bed.

“Damon,” I cried, tears running down my cheek as I ran with the nurses as they took Damon to his room.

The salty taste of the tears was a welcome distraction from the turmoil in my heart. Who wanted Damon dead that they would tamper with his car?
