The night after the exam felt heavier than any other night before it.

The pack house was quiet, too quiet, like everyone was holding their breath at the same time. Guards doubled at every entrance. Wolves patrolled the borders without resting. Even the moon above looked dimmer, hiding behind thin clouds.
