Chapter 6: Making Him Jealous
Elodie
The moment we walked out of the arena, I realized what I had just done and I couldn't help but feel so cringe and stupid. What childish behaviour.
“I'm really sorry for the kiss,” I blurted, embarrassed. But to my surprise ,Jack didn't look angry. In fact, he looked amused. like someone who had enjoyed the kiss. Which is quite shocking.
“I thought you'd be mad at me for kissing you in front of everyone, without your permission!” I rolled my eyes at him, curiously coursing through me.
“I don't have a girlfriend, so you're safe,” he said casually. “ Besides, I'd be willing to help you on something like this.”
My eyes widened instantly. Willing to help me?
“Does that mean, “ I whispered close to his ear. “Would you be okay with me asking you to be my fake boyfriend for a while?” Jack smiled softly.
“Of course, Elodie,” he assured. “Use me all you want. I'd be here to help you make Randy jealous.” He admitted, making my face beam with a smile.
“Then let's do this.” I said excitedly. Trying to keep my voice down.
“We will act like lovers in front of everyone. until Randy feels threatened and finally comes to warn you to stay away from his mate.” Jack smiles warmly at my explanation. He seemed so determined to do it.
“Deal.” He chuckled.
When we stepped out of the bathroom, everyone in the hallway froze the moment Jack's arm wrapped around my shoulders. It felt warm and heavy, but I could feel the weight of every pair of eyes on us.
“Is that the new girl with Jack?
“No way. The omega?
“She kissed him earlier and now they're walking together? What's going on?”
Whispers fly around like wildfire. With a smile, I kept my eyes fixed ahead, pretending not to hear them. Jack's grip tightened slightly, reassuring me. He was a very calm guy. Confidence. The exact opposite of how I felt inside. Apprehension and nervousness run through me like waves but still, I force myself to smile.
“Don't overthink it,” Jack whispered close to my ear. “ This is what we agreed on. Let them talk.” He assured me..
Our plans seemed to be working very perfectly. Now I just need to see Randy's reaction.
As soon as we got back to the next class, all eyes turned to look at us like the main event. And as usual, Cassie's voice pierced the air like glass. “Wow. Didn't know you liked picking trash. Jack,” she sneered, her tone dripping with venom and disgust in her eyes and everyone burst into laughter like it was one of the funniest jokes she has ever made.
I can't believe she just called me that in front of everyone. What's her deal with me?
Randy stood behind her, his jaw tight. Expression unreadable the sight of him made my heart skin painfully. He actually looked furious, but not at Cassie. His eyes were literally fixed on me.
“Come on, Elodie,” Jack said smoothly, ignoring Cassie's words. “We shouldn't waste our time on low energy people.
Cassie’s Face turned red instantly and the whole class went silent like a mosque. Everyone was stunned. I guess it's the first time anyone had ever talked back to her. I bite my lips slowly, to prevent me from laughing.
But Randy couldn't stop looking at me. From where I was, I could see his fists clenching at his sides. His wolf energy leaked through. Sharp and strong. Like he wanted to kill someone. And I had the strange feeling that someone was Jack. .
I really can't believe he's getting jealous. My plan is working!
When the ball rang, I turned to leave, but Randy's voice stopped me. “Elodie. A word.” A beam spread across my face as I stared at Jack who shot me a look, silently asking if I really wanted to talk to him but I said yes.
My heart panted in anticipation of his words as I followed him behind the building. Where no one could us.
I couldn't help but ponder what he would be discussing with me.
“Elodie,” he called softly but angrily, his eyes brimming with anger which I'm starting to notice.
“What are you doing with him?”
My heart skipped instantly. So he cares?
“Who?” I ask back, pretending not to know who he is talking about.
“Don't play dumb with me.” He rasped in. “You think kissing another guy, giving him blow jobs and walking away like that will make me jealous?”
My lips parted with a slow smile, happiness coursing through my body, knowing I was able to make him jealous to the point of confronting me.
“I don't know what you're talking about, Randy,” I muttered. “You said I'm nothing, remember? Just a weak omega. So why does it matter to you who I talk to or be with it?”
A deep breath escaped my lips as I realized I just summoned the courage to say those words.
“It doesn't,” he said flatly. “I just don't want rumours spreading that the future Alpha's mate is being used as a toy by someone else.”
“Mate?” I whispered. “Oh, right. You suddenly considered me a mate? What changed? I thought you said even in your dreams you would never accept someone like me as your mate. So why are you using the words mate when we are nothing?”
I know he's going to kill me for it for being disrespectful and speaking to him in that way but I don't care. I closed my eyes, waiting for the worst to challenge him, but he didn't say anything.
Opening my eyes, I saw him staring at me passionately. With the look of adoration in his eyes.
Unfortunately, before he could say anything else, I walked past him, my heart pounding.

After class, I returned to my dorm, only to find a girl my age arranging her things.
The moment she saw me standing by the door, she flinched, and covered her mouth. Why's she acting weird? I can't even detect if she's happy to see me or frightened by my presence.
“You're Elodie, right?” She rasped in, her tone sounding in disbelief.
“I am.” I let out an awkward smile. “What of you?”
“I am Benita, Cassie's previous roommate.” Oh fuck! My stomach dropped immediately. I don't like how this is going. Did Cassie send another of her friends to monitor me here too?
“No no, don't be frightened. We're no longer friends. Reasons why I moved out of her room.” My mind calmed down a little although I'm still scared. She could be lying to me.
“I heard Randy is your mate?” she uttered, focusing her attention on the clothes she was putting in her wardrobe.
“Why don't you try to make him want you since he doesn't want to accept you as his mate? In that way, you guys would become a couple in the school.”
Now I suddenly get why she's here. She wants to befriend me to make Cassie mad?
“It's nice meeting you, Benita.” I said then turned my back on her without answering any of her questions.
*****
I couldn't sleep, everything that has happened today was replaying in my head, but none of them was able to surpass the pain of rejection Randy gave me.
I could still remember how he clearly stated that he can't be with someone like me no matter what happened.
As an omega and also introvert, I have always wanted to live a quiet life without pulling attention. Yet I thought my mate could be someone of my status, I wasn't expecting the moon goddess to choose me with A future Alpha.
I decided to go outside for a walk and take in the fresh air. The time was 8:30pm. Almost close to curfew times.
I went to the school rooftop, where I can just stand and see everything that's happening from him, but getting close to there, I caught a familiar scent. A scent that always throws me off balance.
It was him. Randy. Always him.
My breath hitched with panic. Why is he here again? Is he following me?
