The horn blast echoed again.

Long. Low. Urgent.

My heart slammed against my ribs. That sound wasn’t for training. It wasn’t for drills. It was the alarm they used only when something was very wrong.

Randy was already moving.

“Stay here,” he said, his voice sharp but quiet.

“No,” I replied instantly. “If something is happening, I need to know.”
