I tried placing one foot in front of the other, testing my balance without those damn crutches, when I heard Chris’s voice echo down the hospital ward hallway.

“Bro, stop. Your still a full–time vegetable.” I snorted, and he added, “Don’t break the remaining bones you have.”

I turned, smirking despite the painful pull in my thigh. “Hi to you too, Chris.”
