“Should I pick the call, or should I just ignore it?” I asked quietly, holding my phone in my hand, my thumb hovering over the screen.

Alexander looked at me, his expression serious but calm, the kind of calm he always tried to project when he was thinking ten steps ahead. “I think you should pick the call and let her talk.” He said. “That way, we know exactly what she wants to say.”
