ELOWEN'S POV
I sprang up on the floor, grabbed my box which was filled with my necessities before heading towards the door.
My hands reached for the door knob. My heart beating faster with every step I took, adrenaline rushed through my body, hastening and jolting me back to reality.
This is my only way of getting out of this misery. This is the only way I'll be able to save my child and prevent it from being used as a continuation of Cyrus’s game.
The worst mistake I could ever make is to give birth to an heir for him. He would end me immediately, citing that my job was done here.
Every move of mine was calculated. I had it at the back of my mind that I must never be caught or seen by anyone, including the guests. I couldn't afford to make a sound or to be seen.
Fortunately, there was no one in sight as I stepped out of my room. I was grateful that the celebration was moved to the West wing of the house. There were few foreseen issues which resulted in Cyrus changing the location of the venue.
So now, I only have to worry about the guards. A memory flew across my mind, the back of the East Wing is always guarded by the best guards of Cyrus's pack, but I hoped they would have gone to join them at the party, since today was sort of a free day for everyone.
Otherwise, I have no idea how I'll be able to get past them. I was left with no choice than to try escaping from here. I crept slowly from the stairs as silent as possible, I can't afford to risk being caught by the guards.
I stopped every second to glance over my shoulder to check if I was being followed or not. I had a feeling I was being watched even though I knew this side was empty and no guards were here.
I got to the storage and it was wide open. The door was opened with no one in sight. No guards, no maid, no bystander.
Then my world came crashing when I heard a soft chuckle behind. “Going somewhere Elowen?”
I recognized that voice immediately, I turned to look at who it was and sure enough, it was Cyrus.
It felt like my feet were stuck and deeply rooted in the floor as I was unable to move. I froze right at the spot, feeling his intense gaze at me.
“Didn't you hear me, Huh?” He added, brushing past my shoulder to face me. “Seems you're off somewhere?”
His eyes burned with rage and he glared at me. His eyes continued fury and anger, restraining me in the situation of a predator and a prey.
I took a step back, my eyes filled with tears. A slight move of my eyes could make the tears pour out anytime.
“Go ahead now.” He continued, tilting his head to the side. “You want to leave so bad, right? Go ahead, Elowen. So go on, Run.”
His voice was suspiciously calm and not of someone pissed or angry.
“Run!” He repeated. This time, his voice was louder and less calm. “And make sure it counts because if my wolves are able to catch you, Elowen, you'll regret your decision today. I'll be torn on saving you or letting them devour you.”
His lips curved a dark smirk which sent shivers down my spine.
“Run!” He yelled.
My body jolted immediately as I ran off. My mind was unable to comprehend what was happening but my body could as my legs moved fast. I dared not to look back, I couldn't. And behind me, I could hear his voice commanding his guards to let out the wolves and follow me.
“Follow her!” He ordered, “Make sure you bring her to me. Dead or alive.”
The guards, complying with his order, sprang into action and rushed towards me. They were running after me, I could hear their shouts grow louder as they ran after me.
I rushed towards the garden, brushing through the leaves and flowers as I ran. Branches snagged at my clothes as I tried to run. My foot was caught up on a root which made me fall down, hitting my arms on the hard floor.
But I knew I couldn't give up now. Surrendering isn't in my plan, all I want is to escape from here.
I struggled to get up, wincing in pain as I staggered across the garden with my bare feet. The shouts from the guards grew fainter as I ran. I heaved a sigh of relief when I spotted the garden gate ahead.
Finally, this is all over.
Finally, I'll be able to escape from this hell hole and from Cyrus. Freedom was so close that I could taste it.
But I was wrong.
A heavy force slammed me from behind. I hit the ground, the impact knocking the air from my lungs. Cyrus stood over me, one of his feet placed on my stomach, calm and triumphant. He pinned me on the ground with a strength he knew I couldn't fight against.
Within a few minutes, the guards came and grabbed me, placing me on my feet.
“Take her away!” He ordered coldly, “Lock her in the tiniest cell we have, and make sure there is no way out of there. Got it?”
“Yes Alpha!” They all responded, taking me away. Their grip was so tight that my arms got bruised from it. We got to the cell, and they threw me into the cramped, dark cell. The walls pressed in on all sides, the air thick and suffocating.
Hours passed before I heard the door open again and footsteps echoed along the corridor. My heart tightened as Cyrus's shadow appeared outside the cell.
He scoffed, smacking his lips. “You little slut. You really think I would not know about your plan while you're under my roof? You're not thinking of running away with the heir in your belly. Are you?”
