Chapter 4: Jiang Xun, Please

Before she could respond, he stood up and left ,not caring if she answered or not. Meilin exhaled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

She picked up the TV remote and flipped it on. Coincidentally, one of Lu Ruiyan’s music videos was playing.

She folded her arms and rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help watching. His moves were sharp, his style magnetic. He really did look good.

Jiang Xun returned with a bottle of red wine and two glasses, placing them on the coffee table.

“Did you miss me?” he teased, pouring the wine.

“You wish,” she muttered, trying not to let his earlier nonchalance get to her.

He handed her a glass and she took a small sip. It was chilled and smooth.

“You like Ruiyan?” he asked, nodding at the screen.

“Kind of. Maybe,” she shrugged.

He chuckled. “That’s such an unsure answer. So, you do or you don’t?”

“I like him, but I’m not obsessed like other girls,” she explained.

“Now that’s my girl.” He wrapped his arm back around her shoulders.

She tried to make conversation.

“Will you be going to his concert tonight?” she asked.

“Huh? No. I’m not a girl,” he replied flatly.

“What’s that supposed to mean? Guys like him too and couples often go to the concert together, you know" she hinted at him , hopping he'd get the hint and maybe come with her,but his reply left her deflated.

“I know. I just don’t see the point.”

“You don’t like him?” she asked.

“Why should I?” he mumbled, voice low.

Meilin narrowed her eyes. “You don’t like him,so you can't watch his show?”

He sighed. “Just drop it, Meilin. Don't make it sound weird .” Then, changing the subject, he added, “How’s your mum doing?”

Meilin frowned a little but answered quietly. “She’s fine.”

They sat in silence for a few beats, the TV still playing softly in the background.

Then Jiang Xun reached for her hand.

“Meilin,” he said softly. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

She put her wine glass down and faced him fully. “Okay. What is it?”

He took both her hands in his.

“Don’t you think it’s time?” he asked, eyes locking with hers.

“Time for what?” she asked, confused.

He lowered his head and sighed. Then suddenly, he leaned in and pecked her.

Meilin’s eyes widened in shock. She pulled away immediately, heart pounding. What was he doing? It has only been three weeks.

“Jiang Xun!” she gasped.

She tried to sit up, but he held her shoulders and pushed her gently back down on the couch.

“What are you doing?” she asked, voice shaky.

He hovered over her, leaning in again.

She struggled, managing to knee his stomach and he crouched in pain, still holding her hand tightly.

“What's wrong with you, Jiang Xun?!. Didn't we say that we would wait!?. I already told you from the beginning that I don't want this until marriage!”

Jiang Xun shot his pain-filled eyes at her, trying to calm his tune behind clenched teeth.

“Mei mei, you know that's a long time to come. I've already waited three weeks for you and we haven't even done something as basic as kissing, what else are we supposed to be doing?"

Hearing the words leaving his mouth, Meilin couldn't believe her ears. Where was the guy who was so sweet and promised that he didn't even want sex or anything related to it and that it was also his intention to wait till marriage.

Meilin couldn't take it anymore, she took her bag and stood to leave but Jiang Xun held onto her hand tightly, not letting her go and soon he forcefully pulled her down, caging her legs and coming down on her like a beast.

“Stop! Jiang Xun, let go of me!” she said firmly, struggling under his weight.

But he didn’t back off.

Oh no…

“Stop it, please!”

Her heart raced. What was happening? Was this the same sweet guy she had been dating?

“Jiang Xun?!”
