Hazel's POV
We landed in one of the most beautiful parts of the small forest, and I was completely mesmerized by the view.
A breathtaking valley stretched before me, with cool streams flowing gently, patches of grass and wildflowers dancing under the sunlight, and even some lovely stones pumping out fresh water.
Oh my! Did I mention the sand? It was as white as the sands you’d see on a sea shore. so clean, soft, and beautiful that I couldn’t resist. I squatted down immediately, running my fingers through it and smiling like a child.
“This is so beautiful,” I whispered, scooping some sand into my hands and bringing it close to my nose, trying to feel and smell every bit of it.
Momo, smiled warmly. “This place is called the Eyes of the Goddess,” he said as he bent to pick up some of the sand too. “Maybe because it has everything nature can offer. "He smiled again, while I also smiled back, staring absently minded into the thin air.
He has been so cool with me, So different from the rest of the pack. I'm sure If all the others were as friendly as he was, I probably wouldn’t be standing here today, trying to figure out where next to run to.
We walked deeper into the forest with the other guards trailing behind as we chatted and laughed. Every time a flower or tree caught my eye, I’d ask us to move toward it, and they always followed.
I kept feeding my eyes, doing something I hadn’t done in a long time untill we reached a place that felt... strange.
“That’s a cave you’re looking at, young queen,” Momo said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"A cave?" I murmured. "What is it about? Tell me more about it" I begged, curiosity taking the best part of me.
"Ehhhrmm..." He shuttered. "Nothing much. Just a unique underground, with strange places, things, being and life" he explained, and his words lit up something inside me.
Perfect! Just a perfect description of where I want to spend my life, hiding from this wicked world and my past. I kept my joy hidden and waited until we walked a bit farther from the cave before calling out gently.
“Momo,” I said softly. “Why don’t we take a quick look inside the cave...”
I hadn’t even finished my sentence when all the guards stopped and gave me another kind of stares full of surprise and disapproval.
“Young queen,” Momo said slowly... "That cave is an abandoned one. The last time they entered it was two thousand years ago, during a huge pack war!" He shrugged off with some discomfort visible in his eyes while The other guards exchanged uneasy looks.
I squeezed my face, stopped on my track, thinking of the best way to convince them.
"Look everyone, curiosity would eat me alive if I leave this place, without taking a look at it. At least, let's just see the beginning part, even if it's just a few minutes walk." I pouted.
looking at their faces, I found out their were so expressionless, meaning they were yet to make up their minds. So, I decided to persuade harder.
"You know Alpha Matteo trusts the seven of you so well to send you guys along. I'm sure he knows nothing would ever happen to me, so far you all are here" I added with a pleading eyes, Hoping it works.
I saw him let out a long breath, dropping his shoulders defeatedly. Shortly he exchanged glances with the other guards who also appeared to be weakened by my words. slowly, they gave in.
Finally, we turned back and walked toward the cave.
We reached the entrance and stepped inside, only for everywhere to appear so damn dark. Thanks to our little saving grace, The ancient light which Momo brought from chariot, and handed over to us.
As we moved deeper, we stumbled across strange things—old clay pots, rough sponges, strange sculpted bodies, dried bones, underground rivers, cracked skulls, and even strands of human hair.
This would have been fucking scary, Any normal person would have screamed and run away because of how strange it is, But not me.
I had already made up my mind to run away from my reality, no matter how dark and scary things turned out, And this cave seemed like the perfect place to do it.
Just while the guards were still showing me around, I suddenly slipped off my hands from them and ran away, with the little light we had, off and buried down inside my chest.
As I ran, I made up my mind to create a new life filled with peace and happy moments no matter the cost.
