"Sir," Alexa replied, then turned and walked away quickly.
Once she left, the air around them became frigid.
Then, they shivered uncontrollably as it started to warm up again.
Before Julia could respond, Damien spoke, his voice wrought with worry and concern. The words that Alexa left them with left a bit of tension in the air.
Not wanting her to fill her brain with unease, he crossed his arm over his chest and peered at Julia calmly.
"That was weird. Don't you think?" Damien questioned, his voice just below a whisper.
Then he shifted from one foot to the other, awaiting Julia's response. Meanwhile, her wolf interrupted them. "Julia, Alexa has something evil planned. If I didn't tell you in time, she would do unexplainable damage to our pack." Her wolf stated. Then, she sat on her hind legs in Julia's mind.
Meanwhile, Damien leaned closer as if he wanted to kiss her on the lips. Instead, he picked her up from the bed and placed her on his lap.
I hope that she doesn't think this is to forward of me. Because f*ck, I can't keep to myself any longer.
Wrapping his arms around her waist, he inhaled her scent, and a sense of calm washed over him.
She can't think about this weird f*cking encounter with her beta. For f*cks sake, she has to keep calm and not do anything irrational! Damien pondered as he rubbed circles up and down her back.
He tried to send himself a message that would calm his racing heart. Yet, he knew that it was nearly impossible. One day, she would eventually make the truth about her beta be known.
A sigh escaped Julia's lips as she came back to her senses. Slowly, her eyes focused on the man in front of her who held her tightly.
Wait, he's holding me? He shouldn't be doing this, because we haven't known each other for a long time. Julia pondered, placing her hands on his shoulder and pushing herself away from him.
I don't need to have a man I just met the day before being all up in my space. Doesn't he know that just because we are mated doesn't constitute our closeness towards each other? She thought while using all her strength to remove herself from his grasp.
But it didn't work. Instead, Damien just pulled her closer to his chest.
I know she doesn't want this. However, I know this is what she needs to help her see the bigger picture of the situation. He thought, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Julia smiled slightly, letting the warmth of his lips linger on it. In her heart, she knew how important it was to let him in. But the thought of being called a backstabber and a trader among her own back wasn't far from her mind. Although being the Luna gave her great responsibilities, she wasn't fully ready to accept it all.
"What happened?" She asked, her voice low and demanding. With each word she spoke, unease and worry fluttered around her belly, wishing to consume her.
Despite that, Julia was ready to confront the situation that she had encountered. But as the minutes passed, her impatience grew faster than ever, willing to stop Julia from confronting it. However, her heart beat in sync with Damien's, regaining its strength.
I need to know what Alexa meant by she was going to overrule my role as Luna in the pack! This has to be stopped at any cost. Julia pondered while Damien slid his hand down her shirt and fondled her breasts. She shivered as he continued.
Before she would let it go any further, Julia pushed his hands away slightly. "Stop, we can't be fully mated yet. Not until we figure out what she meant." She whispered in his ear, then placed a kiss on his cheek.
He nodded his head in agreement before responding. I wish she could see that I'm trying to show her how much my heart beats for her. Well, it's going to take much longer for that to happen. And I'll be there every step of the way for her. Damien thought as a sigh escaped his lips.
"Jules, you need to know, my wolf, James, warned me of Alexa's involvement with the death of your ex-mate." He stated, his mouth drooped into a frown.
As the words lingered, a beeping sound rang through the air. They looked at each other, their eyes widening with each second that passed.
Who the f*ck would interrupt us? Don't they know that we're busy? Damien pondered while they continued staring at each other.
After having a romantic moment despite Alexa's chaotic entry and exit, it was immediately disturbed.
The beeping continued, not stopping for a moment. Each time it did, a sense of pending doom filled the room, and unease arose with everyone.
Ugh, can't they leave us the f*ck alone! Julia wondered while balling her hands into fists as anger arose from the bottom of her stomach.
The last thing she wanted after finding out about her wolf earlier in the day was to be awoken by devastating news about her ruling in the pack.
"What now? Who could be texting me?" Julia spoke, her voice tinged with anger and disdain.
Whoever it was disturbed the quietness of their relationship immediately. This caused tensions to rise again.
Damien leaned to the side and grabbed her phone from her bedside table. Where, accidentally, his eyes scanned an open text message.
"Who the f*ck is Sarah?" He screamed, his anger boiling over.
Despite the anger in his voice, Julia was calm, cool, and collected. She wasn't willing to allow the little fight to get in the way of their happiness.
She steeled herself and crossed her arms, letting his words fall over her like a blanket or comforter.
He has no right to know. But I can't help but reveal who it is. Julia thought while taking a deep breath.
