I was in the middle of a pack meeting in the hall when Alvin, the pack doctor, hurried in with Vera and her friends by her side.

“Apologies for the interruption, Alpha King, but I have important news. Good news, in fact.” That’s what Alvin had said.

“What is it?” I had asked curiously.

“The lady Vera is pregnant.”
