My thoughts raced as I used my new found ability to rush through the forest trees and underbrush with Blake and Nora behind me. I felt the small breeze go through my red hair, which had changed when I turned. I no longer had a heart beat so the sound of it bounding in my ears was no longer visible but that wasn't what really concerned me at all. It was the impending situation that was ahead of me and the though I was immortal, there was still some things about this life I still needed to get used to. One was my other powers that seemed to lay dormant inside of myself and the fact that I haven't had the chance to really discover what those were. It made me worried that this encounter with Gabriel and his strengths may exceed mine considering that I was still a newborn and couldn't truly understand the levity of my own morals. Marcus may of taught me the basics of being a vampire but there was more to it than met the eye. I understood all of it but when I was told that I had hidden abilities, I was more than willing to go as far as seeing what those were but as of this right moment, they were absent to my own eyes and the rest of the group.
"Do you know where your going?" Nora spoke, bring me back to reality. The reality of what was going on. In truth, I had no idea where I was going and lets face it, these two should be the ones guiding me.
"Honestly," I stopped mid run and faced Nora and Blake. "I've never been there," my voice seemed to trail off and the silence that came with it deafened the silence between us three. Then Nora spoke.
"I have," Nora looked to the ground as a flash of something gleamed behind her eyes. "A long time ago when I was a newborn myself." She breathed deeply in then exhaled as if she was hiding a secret that she didn't want to tell but had to order to take down Gabriel and whatever he had planned. "Blake wasn't the one that had turned me. It was Gabriel. Whether it was intended or not, I have not the slightest clue but he made it seem like a complete accident. Then as a scrambled to find help and a safe location, he appeared and told me that what he had planned was for Marcus."
I looked at her in confusion but only stayed quiet so she could continue her story. "He told me that I had a choice. To either join him and make Marcus pay for what he had done centuries ago or suffer the consequences. At the very same moment I had already made my choice. To walk away from what Gabriel had in mind because I already knew that he was an evil being out for no good."
"Does Blake know this?" I asked and Nora only replied with a nod. "I am not blaming you for that. You know this right?" I wasn't judging her either only because I feel as though Gabriel played a part in my demise as well. Only he didn't show up and offer a shot at getting back at Marcus for whatever he had done. The chances of all this being over was slim to none but we had to try. Until we can't anymore. "What are the odds of Gabriel playing a part in what had recently happened to me?" I asked. There was a moment of silence before Blake spoke in response.
"There is a high chance that it can be the possibility. Gabriel is an unpredictable immortal that in a way can be predictable if he allows himself to be." The wind picked up causing his air to ruffle with it. "For example," he said as he wrapped a hand around Nora's waist protectively. "Causing accidents on highways for his own amusement and turning humans in hopes that they'd join him."
A wolf howled in the distance, giving way to the Remus Pack who's clan lived close by. It also indicated that we were nearly there to the queen's castle. "I also realized that we never established a proper plan before heading out." I stated. I breathed in and looked at Blake in question.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" He asked. "You assume that I have any experience dealing with Gabriel."
"You must have considering that you were cast out because you were about to get Promoted by the queen and Gabriel didn't like that." I all but spat out. This made Blake pause in what he was about to say and his eyes widened in shock.
"How did you know this?" He asked with confusion in his voice. "The only people that I have told his Nora and Marcus." His tone held accusation as if one of the two had told Blake's story to me which to be honest, nobody has and being a vampire who is slowly discovering their abilities, mind reading and nit picking was one of them apparently.
"No one told me anything," I assured Blake with a calm voice. "Mind reading seems to be one of my powers."
"Well," Nora said. "If it is then I would advise that you don't unless it's a physical emergency." She leaned into Blake in comfort in hopes that Blake would settle down. As if she felt his anger right then. "Some things are better off left undiscovered."
My heart sort of sank but I didn't respond, feeling a little guilty about prodding into Blake's mind. "I am sorry. It just happened."
Blake gave a small nod. "As long as it doesn't happen again then it's alright."
Telepathy is also one of them. Something that me and Marcus has in common. I thought. I just wish that he was here. I have no idea what I am doing. Gong up against Gabriel and trying to stop him isn't my forte and Marcus knows him better than anyone. After all they were companions at one point. It's another thing that I know but shouldn't. Marcus really hasn't opened up to me yet and I am waiting for him to do so.
"Does anyone know the layout of the castle?" I asked and instantly felt dumb. Of course Blake knew the layout better than us girls did. I put a hand up and halted anyone from saying anything. "A better question is how do we get into the castle?"
Nora gave off a small giggle and I glanced at her. "Clearly the front door." She said.
"We need to consider the possibility that Gabriel convinced the guards to deny us entry as well." I said as I rubbed the bridge of my nose. "Either way we need to know every access point before we continue on this suicide mission."
"Look at you trying to be all leader like." Blake said as his eyes started to glow in anger but I stopped him.
"There is no time for you to get pissy because of something like this." I waved a hand to indicate the situation at hand. "You forget who we are trying to stop at this very moment right?" Blake's eyes returned to normal.
"Right," he said as he covered his eyes with his hair. "Sorry about that. Habit."
"Anyway," Nora said trying to ease the tension. "We have to options. One is to go forward with this or we notify Marcus so that way we aren't going in blind and getting ourselves killed."
"We should notify Marcus honestly." I replied then glanced at Blake who had the same thought.
"I agree." He said as well. "Marcus knows him better than anyone and he could persuade him to stop this nonsense."
"Good we are on the same page." Nora said as she looked at me for once. "Since you and him have the same ability you can call him since you were the one that wanted to do this in the first place." She crossed her arms as she waited.
Shit. I am in trouble. I dropped my walls that prevented him from prying into my mind and allowed an open gateway to him. Marcus?
