Chapter 5

Mrs Natasha got busy in the kitchen preparing dinner and sausages to be refrigerated for the next day.

Vicky, on the other hand, became moody and lay taciturn on the couch watching an entertainment channel displaying the "World Guinness Talent Hunt"

"Vicky, are you mad at me?" Mom mumbled.

"No, I'm not," Vicky answered unconcerned.

"My darling, I'm sorry for shunning you that way. Indeed, I owe you an explanation of my first day at work", Mrs Natasha responded gently.

"It's nothing, mum," Vicky replied.

"Darling, can you come closer? "I want to share with you how my day went," said Mrs. Natasha convincingly.

"Yes," Vicky sounded excited as she joined her mum in the kitchen, hanging on one side of the cabinet.

"So darling, my first day at work was one I could relate to, being a bit cognizant and also a little primitive," Vicky's Mum began to narrate.

"The environment was sophisticated with technology and gadgets.

All units were placed in order with control managers in check.

When I entered its reception, a middle-aged lady welcomed me in, but had a suspicious look of rudeness.

She is the Gen. Secretary and special assistant to the boss, Mr Francis.

I was escorted to his office and fully educated on my assignment as the company's accountant.

"My day was quite interesting, and I'm still getting to know my colleagues and the environment at large."

"One amazing thing almost happened while finding my way home". Mrs. Natasha continued.

"I took a short walk down the street after work, expecting to see a cab, but I didn't.

Two guys were hanging out beside the streetlights, so I approached them to inquire about the nearest train station and how to possibly get home with a cab man.

One of them, who actually looked like a drug addict, answered shabbily and described the direction of its location to the nearest train station.

I was just heading on when the other guy collided with me from the back, snatched my purse, and ran off.

All thanks to Mr. Francis, whose car alighted from afar and hit him down.

The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment of his minor injuries and Mr. Francis took me home."

"Wow, mum, your day is such a big tale of experience on its own," Vicky chuckled.

Mrs Natasha held onto her daughter's hands passionately.

"Vicky, we are still newbies in this environment. "I want you to be cautious of the people you hang out with, darling, I don't want any harm to come your way."

"You are my only daughter. I will never let you be a victim of bullying, rape, or any form of assault". Mrs Natasha advised.

"Vicky's heart skipped a bit at the mention of rape".

Her mind raced to the truth behind the shadows of the curtains.

She had hidden the fact that she had already been defiled by her father, and had become so addicted to sexuality itself that she had no idea how to stop.

"Mum, your first day at work was a tale of experience, and thank you for the advice." Vicky replied gently.

"You must be so tired, Mum."? She asked.

"Yes, baby," her Mum yawned.

"That's why I need a good rest before tomorrow," Mrs Natasha replied.

"Mum, just go take a shower and head on to your room, I will continue in the kitchen," Vicky replied.

"Oh, thank you, my pumpkin," Mrs Natasha hugged her daughter.
