Chapter 7 We'll only eat if mummy cooks with you.

Daniela looked up in surprise. “Danim, when did you come back? I thought you traveled out with your parents?”

“I did, but I returned some days ago.” He replied, pulling out a chair and sitting beside them.

“Let's celebrate. Danim is back, and Daniela got a new job.” Lara chimed in. “I'll be right back.” She stood up and walked to the bartender.

Danim turned to Daniela. “So, how've you been doing lately?” He asked.

Daniela smiled. “I'm fine. So what brought you back?”

“I came back for you. You know, it's been long since I left. No calls, no text, I basically abandoned you, and I'm sorry for that. Also, my dad is opening a new branch here, so I volunteered to help manage it to so I could come back.” He replied.

Daniela smiled and playfully pulled his cheeks. Lara returned with a bottle of wine and three cups. She set it down and turned into the three cups.

“I don't think I should drink. I have to leave by 5am.”

Danim frowned upon hearing her words. “Why are you leaving home so early? It'll still be dark outside.”

“Her new job requires her to be there by 5:30am.” Lara answered.

“Isn't that risky? Leaving home when most people are still indoors. What job is that by the way?” Danim asked then took a sip of his wine.

Daniela stared at the liquid in her cup, a sweet smile forming on her lips as she recalled the moment they made her kiss their foreheads. “I work as a nanny. Currently taking care of quadruplets. They are cute and innocent little angels. They like calling me mummy.” She giggled. “I wished I could spend more time with them.”

“What time do you leave?” Danim asked, quietly stroking her hair. It was something he liked doing back then in college.

“I leave by 7pm…”

“That's ridiculous. 5am-7pm, how'll you even have enough time to yourself?”

“The kids go to school by 7am and return 4pm. So from 7am-3pm, I can leave and do whatever I want to do, but I must be back before 4pm.” She replied, only then did Danim calm down.

“So how do you get there in the morning. Busses only come out by 6:30am.”

“I have a personal driver who takes me there and brings me back home. Honestly, I love the job. I'd be working there for 3 months. I wished it was longer. I want to spend more time with them.” Daniela said, feeling a little unhappy.

She couldn't wait to go back the next day. She recalled the way they clinged to her when she was about to leave. Their cute adorable faces melted her heart.

“Since you have to leave early, hurry up and finish your meal. The last bus leaves by 8:30. We can catch up.”

“Don't worry about the bus. I'll drop you guys off.” Danim offered.

By the time they finished their meal, Danim offered to pay the bills. He took them home after that.

Daniela waved at him as he drove off.

The next day, just like Julian said, another driver came and introduced himself as her new personal driver. He was a bright and cheerful person. They talked on their way to the fortress.

Daniela took the elevator up after greeting Mrs. Callahan. When she got to their room, she placed a small knock on the door.

The door pulled open from inside and Alessio came in sight. He ran to hug her. Daniela smiled and carried him up. He smelled of bath gel and baby oil.

She entered the room and saw the other three. They dropped what they were doing and ran to her the moment they saw her.

“Good morning little angels. Did you miss me?” She asked.

They nodded in unison. They were all dressed in small grey robes. Their hair was still wet.

“Let's get your hair dried so you don't catch a cold.”

They nodded and followed her into the bathroom. Daniela helped them onto the counter. She handed them their toothbrush after pressing a small quantity of toothpaste on each of them.

She took the dryer from the cabinet then turned it on. Their hair was soft as she combed it. After she was done, they washed their mouth in the sink before returning back to their room.

They took off their robes then slid their uniforms on. Daniela noticed some scars and faded injuries on their body. She wanted to ask, but decided not to. She just resumed work, it won't be good if she just started asking questions.

After wearing their uniforms, Daniela carried them unto the big dressing table. She slid their socks on their cute white feet then wore them their shoes.

Behind them, the door slowly creeked open. Killian looked around the room. When he spotted the four of them sitting calm and composed on the dressing table, his jaw twitched.

These little devils. They turned the shower into a warzone and now they were playing innocent little angels in front of her. Killian felt a slight anger as he remembered what they did.

Leo hid the bath gel while the remaining three tried to drag him into the bathtub. They only cooperated after he threatened to fire their nanny. You should have seen the look on their faces. They looked like they had seen a ghost, because they knew he could actually do it.

Killian straightened his suit then walked towards the elevator. Before he'll leave for his meeting, he'll make breakfast for them and see if they'll dare refuse it in front of her. If they don't, then it means these children are definitely up to something.

Inside the room, Daniela arranged their schoolbags. She adjusted their uniforms and made sure their hair was combed well before leading them into the elevator.

When they got to the dining room, the four of them paused when they saw Killian standing by the stove with a spatula in his hand.

He turned to look at them with a knowing glint in his eyes. “Have your seat, breakfast is almost ready.” He commanded in a deep voice.

Daniela pulled out their chairs and helped them into it. She sat beside them and couldn't stop her eyes from wandering to Killian.

He stood by the stove, wearing a black apron, suit jacket casually resting on the counter, sleeves rolled up to reveal the veins in his hand. The sweet aroma of what he was making filled the air.

Daniela glanced beside her as she noticed Matteo writing something on his tab. Just as Killian turned to grab something on the table, Matteo raised it up for him to see.

WE'LL ONLY EAT IF MUMMY COOKS WITH YOU— Matteo.

Killian glanced at Daniela upon reading this, but she was looking somewhere else.

Alessio played along his brother. He wrote on his tab then showed it to Daniela since he sat close to her.

MUMMY, PLEASE PREPARE THE MEAL WITH DADDY. HE TENDS TO MAKE MISTAKES AND SOMETIMES, DOESN'T EVEN ADD SALT TO THE FOOD— Alessio.

Daniela glanced at Killian who had a stern expression on his face. He seemed curious to know what Alessio wrote on his tab, but before he could take a look, Alessio deleted it.

She nervously scratched the back of her head. “He seems to be doing just fine…”

IT LOOKS GOOD, BUT DOES IT TASTE GOOD? WE ARE BABIES AND LITTLE THINGS CAN UPSET OUR STOMACH— Rocco chimed in.

Seeing they were not going to drop the idea any moment from now, Daniela sighed and stood up. She walked around the counter and silently pulled out an apron.

After slipping it on, she stood beside Killian who handed her the spatula without a second thought. It seemed like he had lost this round. Now they won't have a reason to reject it because she made it with him. These little children are getting smarter everyday.

Killian moved aside while Daniela stirred the egg sauce. He opened the rice cooker then scooped some spoons into four plates. By the time he placed it in front of them, they had their tabs held up.

I WANT MY RICE FORMED IN A TRIANGLE SHAPE— Matteo.

I WANT SQUARE— Alessio.

I WANT CIRCLE— Rocco.

I WANT RECTANGLE— Leo.

Killian glared at the four of them. “Eat your rice in whatever shape you find it.” He replied.

They shoved the plates away.

He exhaled sharply.

THE SHAPES ARE RIGHT THERE IN THAT CABINET— Matteo said, pointing at the cabinet above where Daniela stood.

Killian turned and matched to the cabinet. They want shaped rice, right? He'll give them shaped rice.

He stopped right behind Daniela who silently stirred the egg sauce. Pulling open the cabinet, he spotted the box containing the shapes, but it was far into the end of the cabinet.

He stretched his hand, his finger brushed the side of the container. One more step and he'll get hold of the container. But the moment he took a step forward, his chest pressed against Daniela's back.

Daniela, who was minding her business but suddenly felt something strong and warm press against her back, instantly looked up, only to find her face barely inches away from Killian's.

Four mouths behind them twitched with a smile.
