Lauren
He stretched his arms for me to embrace him but I didn't move.
"We are finally free love!" He announces, breathing hard but I didn't look at me not when Kyle just fell.
I jolt up from the floor, ignoring him and running downstairs to have a look at what has become Kyle's fate.
My body grow still unnaturally as I take the last step down only to find him covered in his own pool of blood.
Horror awakens in me.
His fingers were moving, his eyes flickers but he was paralyzed.
I didn't even know what to do but I found myself coming closer to him.
He's still alive.
I return my gaze to the curved stairway and I could see Karl leaping towards me, despite the fact that he's still bleeding.
A strong hand suddenly grip my ankle and I shouted, realizing that it's Kyle.
I tried to wretch out of his hold and when I turned to look at him, his weak words were;
"Pr...in..cess, save...mee"
Karl pushes his hand away from me as he grab my wrist just so I don't stay close to Kyle.
There's no emotions in Karl as he made it look like Kyle was an alien to get disposed.
We were a distance from him now and Karl made me look at only him as he seems overwhelmed.
"I've booked a plane for us, someone would come clean the mess..."
"We can't leave him Karl" I strongly opposed staring at Kyle whose eyes were still opened.
"What!" Karl said as shock wears him. I broke out of his hold, wanting to clarify myself.
I just don't know why I still want to save him, despite his cruel act to me.
"I'm not a murderer, I know I hate him but he can still survive if we take him to the hospital..."
"Shut up Lauren, he almost killed me and our baby and now, you want to save him?"
"I'm sorry Karl, this isn't the revenge I want!" I confessed running back to assist Kyle.
"I won't let you Lauren, we planned this together"
"No, we were coming up with a plan and who is Robert?" I argued, angry with everything that has just happened today.
His blood dries up from his vein and as he's about to respond, the doorbell rings.
We both glance at ourselves and then at the door. I need assistant.
Hastily, I intend to rush to the door but Karl grab my hand and shook his head in a refusal.
But I shoved his hand away, ran to the door to attend to the guest. Spurring the door open, I'm greeted by them.
It's Aaron...and her, Kyle's girlfriend who the world knows. Not wanting my emotions to burst, I quickly let them in.
"Aaron, it's Kyle, he's in danger" I announced and almost immediately, she pushed me aside that I would have fallen if I hadn't held the door frame.
I shifted my gaze to Karl who pretends as though he was trying to revive Kyle up. We are both in danger if Kyle survives but I never minded.
Aaron's eyes danced in their sockets as he stared plainly at his friend. My fingertips turned cold and a knot tightened around my chest.
"We got attacked" Karl narrates as the girlfriend cries while aaron struggles to carry Kyle in his arms.
I don't even know her name but it starts with an M. I moved to assist Karl just so we get inside the car Aaron would be driving.
We can't wait for the ambulance and I prayed so hard that Kyle doesn't die.
Karl and I sat at the back seat with Kyle in between us. His head rest on my shoulder.
My gown got stained with his blood and a trapdoor opens up in my stomach.
I couldn't feel his breath and I began to cry uncontrollably.
Aaron is evil, why didn't he let Mira sit with him when she wanted to?
It's like he knows and want me to die of guilt.
"Kyle" I called in between my teeth, lost and perplexed.
Karl pinched my hand, his eyes beckoning on me to keep it low but I couldn't.
I'm sitting with the man I just tried killing. Aaron drives recklessly, bypassing intersections, taking sharp turns and in a few minutes, we got to the hospital.
The door got opened by Aaron as a stretcher was rolled to carry Kyle.
We were approached by a group of doctors who were ready to attend to this star.
Another nurse quickly rush to attend to Karl and I would have followed him but suddenly, Kyle was holding on to my hand.
Mira tried to seperate our hands but Aaron stops her and I'm left with no choice than to run along with the stretcher that carries him inside the theatre.
The doctors and nurses moved swiftly, monitors beeps, machine whirred and the sound of our footsteps echoes down the corridors like every seconds counts.
"His BP's dropping!" A nurse calls out, her voice tightens with concern.
I gasped, more frighten as his face has gone pale, IV lines were adjusted on him, an oxygen mask were placed on him with a defibrillator pads applied.
"Get the crash cart ready!" A doctor orders as his eyes were fixed on Kyle's fading vital signs.
They were working in sync to save him. The theatre door swung open and suddenly, Kyle slowly open his eyes.
He weakly muttered;
"Princess"
His grip on me soften as he lets go of my hand and the doctors comes in between us, taking him away out of sight.
I stood frozen and staring at the theatre door which shuns me. Everything was void, and I stood like a living corpse staring at the theatre door.
"Oh babe, please don't die" Mira's voice wails as she pace to and fro in panic.
Her voice made me realize I wasn't alone because she was freaking out and lamenting.
My eyes were on palms which got stained with his blood.
Even in death, he still calls out to me...why?
A nurse walked towards me with a notepad and a pen, in a haste. Mira obstructed me, to attend to her.
"Who is his wife?" The doctor asked adjusting his glasses and scanning Mira.
She raised her hand up but Aaron pushes me to the front.
"She's the one" he replied in a low tone as he was devastated and Mira gawk at him.
Her expression proves that everyone knows her as his and I'm just the wife that don't exist.
The nurse handed me the paper and pen to sign an agreement that involves his life.
As she explains, I didn't even listen as the only image in my head is that of Kyle.
I was subconscious, the pen in my hand keeps slipping off each time I tried to sign.
Mira pushes herself to me again, like we were rivals when I'm interested in Kyle, I just feel terrible for the incident that led to his condition.
"I'd just do it..."
"Mira, stay out of this, give the wife her right" Aaron snarls picking up the pen and giving it to me.
He grabbed my shoulder blades squeezing them mildly as he made me look at him in his eyes.
Aaron's eyes searches mine and I tried my best not to act suspicious but worried.
"Hey, don't be scared, he's not going to die, just sign it and get this done with okay?"
I nodded and with shaky hands, I signed the papers.
Mira eyed me, fuming and crossing her arms around her chest.
The nurse left us and Aaron consoles me, even though it wasn't working.
"You killed him, I know that, just wait until he wakes up!" Mira accused as though she has been waiting for the moment to banter with me.
I couldn't even defend myself.
"Mira, stop that, she's in shock as you are..."
"Oh wow, he left the game he had been working for all his life! For reasons I don't even know only to meet his death? How comes she isn't harmed?..."
As Aaron tries to keep Mira calm, the nurse attending to Karl walks in on us.
"You can see your ward now" her voice eluded my thoughts and forgetting that these two were here arguing, I rushed to see Karl.
As soon as I got to his ward, I closed the door and ran to embrace him, squeezing myself in his arms.
"I'm so scared, we are doomed and Mira isn't letting me breath" I cried not minding if he's hurt in this whole scenario.
He exhaled, stroke my hair and then grunt. I didn't check his bruises because I was so tensed as adrenaline burst through my veins.
"I told you, we should have finished him, before we get caught, let's leave the country" he suggested and I rubbed my head on his chest.
"They'd figure out it's us"
"But they can't get us" he counters and I swallowed believing his every words.
Not until the squeaking sound of the door caused a chill to freeze me to a spot.
We had to refrain from hugging each other, as I sat on the chair beside his stretcher while he returns to laying on the bed.
I recoil in horror as I shoot upright on the chair. My eyes danced at the two figures approaching me.
It's the cops. What are they doing here?
