The door closes, and the lock clicks. The only light in the room is from a faulty dim light bulb. The room smells like laundry detergent mixed with a strong cactus smell.

She had her back to the door while I stared at her at the other end of the room. The light from the hallway is illuminating the edge of her dress.

She is looking everywhere except at me. I had hurt her so much and wanted to apologise; maybe this was the only opportunity I would get to make things right.
