My phone rings at exactly 7:23 AM, jolting me from the first real sleep I've had in three days. The caller ID shows an unknown number with a Crimson University area code.

"Hello?" My voice comes out scratchy and raw, like I've been screaming for hours.

"Is this Penelope Hale?" The voice is crisp. A Male voice. The kind of tone that usually means bad news.

"Yes." I brace myself for another humiliation somehow leaked beyond pack boundaries.
