The private room feels smaller when Penelope finally falls asleep against my chest. Her breathing evens out, warm against my neck where she marked me. I run my fingers through her hair and stare at the ceiling.

My phone buzzes on the nightstand. Three missed calls from Sophia, two from her brother Kane, and a dozen texts I don't bother reading.
