The secure call comes through while I'm reviewing security footage from my parents' attack.

"Incoming encrypted transmission from Bloodfang territory," the communications officer announces. "It's Alpha Vaughn requesting to speak with Luna Blackthorn. Privately."

I glance at Timothy. He nods permission, though his jaw tightens slightly.

"Put it through to my office," I say.
