Chapter 8

Reedah's POV

Everything tasted like pure ash, but my eyes were extremely heavy.

I tried to push my leg up, but it was no use, I couldn’t do anything about it. Everything in me screamed as I realized I truly could not move.

What in God’s name happened?

The last thing I remembered was being at dinner and Dylan calling me. Confusion settled within me as I did not know what to do.

“Did you find out what the poisoning was made up from?” I heard Dylan’s voice, and I tried to move but nothing. Someone tell me why I can’t move, and why was he talking about poisoning?

Who got poisoned?

“It was meant to make her die. It’s a very dangerous flower found in certain places. If the Luna was not brought on time, she would have…” The man’s voice trailed off, and my heart raced as I realized it was me they were talking about.

Someone had put something in my food... poison, as a matter of fact.

What’s with everyone trying to kill me? Was it bad to just be nice, even if wrong Reedah was not?

I forced my eyelids again, and a bit of light broke through before I hissed and turned away from the lights.

“Turn the lights off!” Dylan growled, and his hand reached for mine immediately.

A chill went down my spine as it felt like being home, and tears filled my eyes. I had waited for years for a mate and… I nearly died again!

“Hey, are you okay?” he asked softly, and it took me a second to realize I wasn’t in the hospital, I was in… his room.

Everything smelled like him, and it was a beautiful mix of burgundy and black. I’d never seen anything like it. I knew he never wore anything but black according to rumors, but this was magnificent and unbelievable.

“Do you like it?” I blinked. I had totally forgotten he was there a second ago.

“It’s beautiful.” I smiled.

“Tell me, how are you feeling? Do I need to get you anything?” he asked, and I noticed a maid standing in the corner, gaping at us in shock like she had never seen us before.

“I’m fine, you don’t have to worry. I just need some alone time with you.” He looked at the maid, and she immediately left the room.

He climbed onto the bed, and my body shivered. It felt good, almost unreal, but he was truly twice my height. I wondered if…

“Alpha!” A piercing scream from outside the room startled me to death, and Dylan’s eyes rolled to the back

Someone was talking to him through the mind link. I tried to listen in on his conversation but heard nothing.

His walls were tightly up, and screams echoed in the corridor before his eyes came back to normal.

“Do not leave the room, no matter what.” He stood up from the bed.

“Wait! What the hell is happening? I can help in some sort...”

“No! You are my Luna, and I will not put you in harm’s way, especially not after someone tried to harm you, again!” he growled in my face, and something curled in my chest.

“I am not just your Luna, and I will not be confined to a space!” I snapped at him, and he let out a rumble that sent chills down my spine.

“You will stay here, and that’s final!” His eyes glowed red in fury, and I backed away immediately, knowing being close to a pissed-off Lycan was not advisable.

He left the room, and I heard a click. Without thinking, I left the bed, but the room was locked, he had locked me inside.

The nerve of this man!

I didn’t even feel anything, even if I had just woken up. I groaned in frustration and looked out to see a commotion of people running away from the house, fear and terror written across their faces.

What the hell was…

A black, thick fog slowly began to surround the wall of the house. My heart lunged to my throat as it beat hard. I’d never seen anything like it, but everything in me screamed to run away from the window.

“Why are you here?” Dylan growled, and I gasped as I saw his Lycan form.

He was extremely huge.

“Give me her name. You have been cursed to never be...” He slammed his claws into a woman, and she went flying into the wall.

“You have been banned from this place forever. Get the hell away from this kingdom, you witch!” In the blink of an eye, she was on him… kissing him.

I saw nothing but red.

I ripped the door lock off as I growled. My wolf took over my body, and I screamed, making the entire place rumble.

She dared to place a finger on him. How dare she?

“Luna, Luna, you are not allowed to...” I threw the guards as they placed a hand on me.

“You dare to question my movement? One more move and you will wish you were dead!” I growled as they scrambled away immediately.

Everyone that was left created a path for me to pass, and my eyes locked with hers.

Dylan was on the ground by the time I got there, and my rage knew no bounds.

“Well, the powerful one, I have searched...” I slammed my fist into her face, and she screamed.

She tried to say something as she pointed a finger at me, but a banshee scream ripped from my throat, sending her slamming against the wall of the manor.

“How dare you?!” I picked up the trident against a statue and slammed it into her.

Her eyes widened in fear as her body bled, and it was pure black. Her blood was purely black. The horror I felt knew no bounds as I looked at her.

“What the hell are you?” She let out a laugh, but her body aged.

“You have crossed the line, Alpha. You shall now suffer a great deal, one you cannot break, and one where you will lose someone you love.” Her hand fell, and her body went limp.

“What the hell did you do? I told you to stay inside!” Dylan growled, and I turned to see his lips pure black, unknown rage burning in his eyes.
