Chapter 6

Selena Pov

As our discussion about the event details wrapped up, I felt a sense of accomplishment and excitement bubbling within me. David and I had covered everything from menu options to logistical arrangements, and the collaboration between us felt natural and promising.

As we both stood up from our seats, a comfortable silence settled between us, carrying with it the satisfaction of a productive meeting. The café buzzed with activity around us, the aroma of coffee and pastries lingering in the air, adding to the pleasant ambiance.

I glanced at David, noticing a thoughtful expression on his face. "Thank you for meeting with me today, David. I really appreciate your insights and ideas," I said, breaking the silence with genuine gratitude.

David smiled warmly, his eyes reflecting a shared sense of anticipation. "The pleasure is all mine, Selena. I believe our collaboration will lead to something truly special."

As we walked towards the exit together, the afternoon sun greeted us outside, casting a golden hue over the bustling street. The city's rhythm seemed to match our newfound synergy, and I couldn't help but feel optimistic about the future.

"So, Selena, are you heading home now?" David asked, breaking the silence with a friendly inquiry.

I nodded, a smile playing on my lips."Yes, just a few more errands to run before calling it a day."

David glanced at his watch and then back at me, a thoughtful look crossing his features. "I have a meeting at our office later, but I still have some time"

"I live just a few blocks from here. It's a nice day for a walk," I replied, appreciating the offer.

David nodded in agreement. "I'd be happy to walk you home if you'd like."

I accepted his offer with gratitude, and we set off on our stroll through the city. The conversation flowed effortlessly between us, shifting from event details to more personal topics as we got to know each other better.

"So, Selena, what led you to pursue a career in event planning?" David asked genuine curiosity in his voice.

I shared a bit about my background, explaining how my love for creativity and organization drew me to the field. We talked about our favorite event moments, from memorable weddings to successful corporate gatherings, finding common ground in our passion for creating memorable experiences.

As we passed by a quaint park, David pointed out a vibrant display of flowers, sparking a discussion about our shared appreciation for nature. I learned about his hobbies outside of work, from hiking in the nearby mountains to trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

In turn, I opened up about my love for painting and how it served as a creative outlet for me. We shared anecdotes and laughter, the conversation weaving through topics like travel experiences, favorite cuisines, and even childhood memories.

Before I knew it, we had reached my apartment building. The walk had been not just a journey home but also a delightful exchange of stories and insights. I turned to David with a smile.

"Thank you for the lovely walk and conversation, David. I had a great time," I said sincerely.

"The pleasure was all mine, Selena. Let's continue our collaboration with even more enthusiasm," David replied warmly, his gaze reflecting the genuine connection we had formed.

As I entered the lobby of my apartment building, the familiar warmth of the place greeted me. Frank, the friendly lobby manager, flashed a welcoming smile as he noticed me.

"Good afternoon, Selena. How was your day?" Frank asked, his tone filled with genuine interest.

"Good afternoon, Frank. It was quite productive, thank you," I replied with a smile, appreciating his friendly demeanor.

I stepped into the elevator, the soft chime signaling the ascent to my floor. As the elevator doors opened, I walked down the hallway to my apartment door, the excitement of the day's events still lingering in my mind.

As I reached for my keys to unlock the door, something out of place caught my eye. A mysterious box sat right outside my apartment, its presence both unexpected and intriguing. I furrowed my brows, wondering who could have left it there and what it might contain.

Setting my bag aside, I bent down to examine the box. It was neatly wrapped with a ribbon, giving it an air of mystery and importance. Without hesitation, I picked it up and carried it inside my apartment.

Placing it on the coffee table, I carefully untied the ribbon and opened the box. Inside, I found a beautifully crafted journal with intricate designs on the cover. My eyes widened in surprise and curiosity as I lifted the journal out of the box. Alongside it, there was a note, neatly folded.

The note read:

"Selena,

May this journal be a canvas for your thoughts and inspirations, capturing the beauty of every moment, just as you do with your events. Wishing you the best in all your endeavors.

Warm regards, Arthur"

A warm but wistful smile spread across my face as I read Arthur's thoughtful message and despite our parting, there were still moments of care and thoughtfulness between us. The gesture was unexpected yet appreciated, reminding me of the depth of our shared history.

The gesture was unexpected yet appreciated, reminding me of the depth of our shared history. With a mix of emotions, I made a mental note to reach out and express my gratitude to Arthur for the thoughtful and surprising gift. It was a touching reminder of the meaningful connections that endure, even after time and distance have passed.

With determination, I picked up my phone and dialed his number.

The phone rang for a few moments before Arthur's familiar voice answered, "Hello?"

"Hi, Arthur. It's Selena," I greeted, trying to keep my voice steady despite the mix of emotions.

"Selena, it's good to hear from you. How are you?" Arthur's tone was warm, tinged with genuine concern.

"I'm doing well, thank you. I just received your gift," I began, choosing my words carefully.

There was a brief pause on the line before Arthur replied, "I'm glad you received it. I hoped it would bring a smile to your face."

"It did more than that, Arthur. It was such a thoughtful gesture," I expressed sincerely, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders as I spoke.

"I'm glad you liked it," Arthur replied softly.

We fell into a comfortable rhythm of conversation, catching up on each other's lives in a way that felt familiar yet distant.

We shared updates about work, hobbies, and mutual acquaintances, bridging the gap that time had created between us.

As our call neared its end, I couldn't help but feel a sense of closure and appreciation for the connection we still shared despite our past.

"Thank you again for the gift, Arthur. It meant a lot to me, but I would be happy if you don't anymore" I said, heartfelt gratitude in my voice.

"You're welcome, Selena. Take care of yourself," Arthur replied, before ending the call.
