CHAPTER 14: OH JOSH!

"We have two shooters right and left and I don't think they are together,' Larry said.

"Good thing I asked you to come, now make your presence known, please be careful, I suspect Josh is here too," I said.

"We have to draw them out, we are blind here," I said.

My phone rang, it was Marvin, I quickly put it off but it was too late, they started firing at us.

"Thanks, we don't need to draw them you. That would do" Larry said.

One of the bodyguards shot the shooter on the right and that gave me the opportunity to flank the other shooter on the left.

I got to the shooter without him noticing. I felt it was a knife job. I stabbed him in the leg and he fell on his knee before he could regain his balance I stabbed him in his neck while covering his mouth.

As I turned to move, there was a gun pointed at my head.

“Cassie, don't move. I will not hesitate to shoot you if you make any move," Josh said.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"You know why I am here don't act naive. I know who you are." Josh said.

"Josh, you need the documents, or don't you?" I said.

"That's why I am not killing you yet. The Contractor needs the documents " Josh said.

"Oh that's great," I said.

"No, it's not because I am killing him today." He said.

"No you can't, I need the documents," I said.

"That's your problem, it is an open contract and mine does not include getting the documents l, that's your job, you don't get it, you die," he said

Larry called my name and that gave me a little distraction, in a swift and of a second, I bent down flipped my knife, and stabbed his kneecap. I left the knife on his flesh.

He shouted and shot at me but his aim was limited to his pain. He missed. I shot at him and he fled.

Larry came to me with the other shooter. The shooter was badly hurt. The bodyguard did a great job.

The shooter was an assassin. He was hardly breathing.

"You cannot kill me Cassie, you know the code," the shooter said.

"Sorry it is an open contract, you did not get the memo," I said as I slit his throat.

"Please, Larry get rid of the body and tell the bodyguard to join me in the conference room. It is going to be a long day." I ordered.

"You would want to clean up, even in the dark I can still strips of blood on you.

"Thanks, Larry,' I said. I quickly dashed upstairs to the restroom. I was shocked to see my face covered in blood. I washed my face and cleaned my gown. The gown was black and a lot of things hid in its colour.

When I came out from the rest room the bodyguards were waiting for me. They had seen me in my truest form so they had no issues taking orders from me.

What do you want us to do, Cassie?" One of them asked.

"Marvin is the asset, protect him with your life, he is a top priority," I said.

Ok Cassie " he said.

“Please inform the other two with him,” I said.

I called Larry to meet us at the conference room where the party was taking place.

I got to the party, the loud music and the merrying kept them busy. I rushed to where Marvin was. I could see that the bodyguards were all available and stationed in a diamond order. They were very aware of the threat.

"Where have you been? I have been calling, why did you switch off your phone." Marvin asked.

"I told you I was going to the rest room right?" I replied.

"That was pretty long, are you sure you are okay?" He said.

"Yeah, I am. Hope you are enjoying yourself" I asked pouring a drink for myself.

“Yeah, I have to thank Ken for that. Do you know my uncle is here?" He asked

" What did you say?" I pretended I could not hear him so I could adjust my gown to cover the knives.

"Uncle Jonah is here, he has been with Ken though, " Marvin said.

How naive can one be that he did not know his enemies who wanted him dead? He was so naive that I thought that even if I showed him proof his simple nature would not make him see it.

"Oh, I see so what would they be discussing?" I asked.

"Maybe the company or anything else?" He said

“Wow, is that okay?" I asked smiling.

"Do you know if I don't get married in a few months, I am going to lose the company to him?" he said.

" Who made such a rule, the person is an idiot," I said.

It was my father, he didn't think I could handle the pressure," Marvin said.

"Oops, my bad, I am sorry I didn't know," I said.

"It's okay, he did not want his life for me running from harm every day of my life but here we are," Marvin said.

I sighted Josh in the crow a few distance away. Oh Josh why don't you die? I thought to myself. I signaled the closet bodyguard with my eyes. I needed a distraction so I could focus on Josh.

Talk of the devil. Shantel showed up holding two glasses of wine. "I'm sorry you may have to get one for yourself," she said offering Mason the other glass.

Rose came around and took the drink from her. "Please Mr. Marvin take taking anything from a third party for now."

I laughed, as I looked around and could not locate Josh anymore.

"Okay Marvin, you two enjoy yourself, I have some things to attend to," I said, leaving them.

I told Rose to ensure that no one gave Marvin any form of food or drink without her approval. I went to the nearest bodyguard to let him know I was no longer with Marvin, his asset.

Oh, Josh! Where are you? Let's finish this. I thought to myself as I forced my way through the guests looking for Josh.
