“Officer, I am gently going to reach for my ID Card and give it to you. Please hold on.” Marvin said.

“My instruction was for you to get out of the car with your hands where I can see it, are you not listening?” The officer said.

Okay, officer, I am coming down as you ordered,” Marvin said.

Marvin went down, and raised his hands up, the officer came towards me and checked me up. He looked at the driver and ordered him to come down too.

“Officer, please allow them to take me to the hospital. I was attacked by some boys down the road. Please leave them alone. They are good people,” I said, holding his hand.

The other police officer had checked out the number plates and license and whispered to the one who was giving out the instructions.

Okay. Mr. Marvin, we wanted to be sure it was you. Please ensure you take the lady home. I will come to your office to know what exactly happened,” the officer said.

“Thank you so much, officer. That would be perfect,” Marvin said.

Marvin and the bodyguard entered the car and we drove off and that was the last time I opened my eyes. I had used my last strength to get them off the hook of the police and thereby save my life.

Marvin was really afraid for my life. I could see it in him the way he was talking to the police and even to Ken. I could see the love he had for his former cleaner turned Administrative Manager. I was glad I had such an effect on him, but I was sure I would never marry him.

The next time I opened my eyes, I was lying on my bed with bandages on my right arm and left leg. I can not remember injuring them at all. I looked at the room and saw two people discussing.

When the blurry eyes became clear, it was Rose and Marvin who were discussing. “What are you discussing? I hope you are not planning to take me to the hospital or sell me off,” I said.

“You are awake, welcome to the land of the living Cass,” Rose said.

“You gave us a scare,” Marvin said, as he came to me and held my hand. I felt the warmth of his breath.

“You need a shower,” I said.

Marvin had been by my side all night without leaving. The bodyguards were on guard as he did not want further attacks. He had neither brushed his teeth nor taken his bath as he would rather watch me sleep than do that.

“I am very happy to know you are with me,” I said

“Now that you have said that, I am going to ask them to get my change of clothes and I will take my bath here,” he whispered into my ears.

“That would be fantastic, I want to see that body of yours,” I said.

When Rose saw that we were flirting with ourselves she asked to be excused but Marvn told her to get some clothes for him from his room so that he would take his bath there so that he could keep an eye on me.

“Larry has been calling you, it is like you have a new boyfriend,” Marvin said as Rose went out to get his clothes.

“Oh, thank goodness he is alive,” I said.

“Now, I am a bit confused. Who is Larry and what does he want with you and why are you grateful he is alive?” Marvin asked me, looking very serious and very confused.

“Well, he is my contact. Remember the one I called to get you bodyguards,” I said.

Oh, he is the contact you talked about, and by the way, the bodyguards are the best I have seen and they are very professional,” he said.

“Thank you dear,” I said, smiling at him.

“So what happened to him?” Marvin asked.

“I had to call him when I found out that the assassin that tried to kill you the other time was around, his name was Josh and he was contracted to kill you,”

I said I was trying not to give so much information away.

“How would you know all this?” Marvin asked.

“Larry told me the assassin had him but he was lucky to have survived because Josh was very good,” I said,

“But you killed Josh,” Marvin said.

“Because I am very good,” I said, laughing.

“It is not a laughing matter, Cass, you could have died yesterday, on my birthday, I would never have forgiven myself,” Marvin said.

“Well, I am a street girl and when he said he was going to kill you whether I liked it or not, I had no option but to fight for the love of my life,” I said.

“So you do love me?” asked Marvin.

“What do you think?” I said.

“You tell me,” he said,

Rose came into the room with Marvin's clothes. She saw the both of us blushing and smiled. She winked at me and arranged the clothes on the couch in my room. I knew I had some explaining to do to Rose but I didn’t know what Marvin would have told her.

“By the way, the police will be coming to see you. Please just stick to your initial story and tell them you remember nothing after that,” Marvin said.

“We were stopped by the police. Please, what happened? What did I tell them?” I asked.

“That we were good men who found out that you were attacked by some boys and saved you,” Marvin said, smiling.

“Hmm, did I actually say you saved me or did I mean I saved you,” I said, smiling and looking at his face, expecting a reaction from him.

“I will just take that bath you wanted me to have,” he said.

When he left, Rose came to the bedside and held my hands with a smile, “Thank the gods you are back, you keep here lively and happy. I am glad you are my friend. I will leave you to rest now and come back to check on you,” she said.

“That would be fine. Thank you for taking care of me,” I said.

She left just as she was about to close the door. She blew a kiss to me and waved.

Marvin came out of the bathroom stark naked. I watched him dance naked and laughed my senses out with pain all over my body. His thing dancing the opposite way of his body.

“Are you done?’ I asked as he was now putting on his clothes.

“Nah, you could put me in trouble,” he said as he was fastening his pants.

“Hello!” it was the voice of the officer who stopped us. He came in just after a very short knock.

Officer, you would have knocked, there is a lady in here and she deserves some privacy,” Marvin said.

“I can see the privacy you are giving her,” he said as he watched Marvin put on his clothes.

“Officer, this is my house and you are done harassing me,” Marvin said. He had not had it easy with the officer since last night.

“It is okay officer, I am better now, thanks to Mr. Marvin,” I said.

“I did knock Mr. Marvin and great to see you in good condition,” Ms Cass. or should I call you Cassie,” the officer said.

“Cass would be fine sir,” I said.

“So would you want to tell me what happened last night and why were you not taken to the hospital?” the officer asked.

“You should ask me why she was not taken to the hospital because she was unconscious last night and can hardly remember a thing,” Marvin said.

“Mr. Marvin, I would advise you to allow me to ask whoever I want to ask if you want this thing gone easily. You are making my job difficult and that is what you have been doing since last night”, the officer said.

“I am so sorry, that’s quite fair,” Marvin said.

“Officer I was attacked by a group of boys just outside the office,” I said.

“Excuse me, miss, do you work for Mr. Marvin?” the officer asked.

“Yes I do,” I said.

“But you did not give us the impression last night. In fact, according to your words, they found you by the roadside and were trying to take you to the hospital after the assault on you by a group of boys,” the officer said.

“Did I say that?” I asked, laughing.

“Of course, ma’am,” he said.
