I went back to my office. Yes, I now have an office and am back to my duties ensuring the building is clean and well organized. No one is lacking any tools. I was the new Admin Manager and I loved it. It looked better than killing people, but it was quite boring.
I had placed a pin camera in Marvin's office when I was a cleaner so that I could get where the documents were. But since I got the documents, the camera had just been there just for my amusement.
I would watch him when he eats and how he eats. Sometimes he changes his clothes and that was the most amazing thing for me. I always loved it when he was naked. It was like he was perfectly crafted by the maker himself.
I could also hear his every discussion. I was the assassin sent to kill him and I needed all the information that would give me any advantage, yet I had fallen in love with him. I wondered, sometimes, what it would look like to kill the man you loved.
I watched as Shantel stepped into the office. She was dressing a little too sexy for my liking. I guess she does not really want to give up on this wild goose chase.
"Hello Marvin," she said, smiling as if she knew Marvim from way back, meanwhile she had just met him a few weeks ago.
"Please sit," Marvin said.
"Thank you, I noticed you didn't want to talk to me. So I am here in flesh and skin," Shantel said, trying to bait Marvin.
"I noticed too," Marvin replied. (I nearly busted out laughing where I was seated, watching this whole scenario).
"Did I do something wrong," she asked.
I was really laughing pretty hard. This lady does not know how to play the game. Marvin does not have that time. He needs to marry in six months' time and if you want to waste his time, you need to get his love.
Ken and Uncle Jonah's frequent meetings had made Marvin suspicious and he noticed that Shantel was from Uncle Jonah's company, a subsidiary of Marvin's firm.
What do these guys think? They are supposed to be brilliant corporate workers.
Shantel began to cry. I did not hear what Marvin told her, but I was enjoying this movie from my phone attached to the Pin camera in Marvin's office.
From where I was I could sense that the air in the room where they were grew heavy with tension as Marvin fixed his gaze firmly on Shantel. I could see his eyes piercing through her carefully constructed facade. It had taken him some time to unravel the truth, but now he stood before her with an unshakable resolve.
"Shantel," he began, his voice steady and resolute, "I know that you were sent here by Ken."
Shantel's expression wavered, caught off guard by Marvin's direct accusation. She had played her part convincingly, but now, face to face with Marvin's unwavering scrutiny, the walls of deception were crumbling. I could sense that she may have loved him, but what was displayed in Marvin’s office was an inability to showcase her love for Marvin while covering up the deception.
Marvin continued, his voice laced with determination, "I need you to tell me the truth, Shantel. Why did Ken send you? What is he trying to achieve? Please stop all these crocodile tears and tell me the truth"
For a moment, Shantel hesitated, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape. But she knew that there was no way out of this confrontation. Marvin's conviction and his understanding of the situation had cornered her.
With a resigned sigh, Shantel finally confessed, "You're right, Marvin. Ken sent me to get close to you, to play with your emotions, and to prevent you from getting married."
Marvin's jaw tightened, anger and betrayal coursing through his veins. He had suspected as much, but hearing the truth confirmed his worst fears. Ken, a man he had considered a friend, had manipulated his feelings and orchestrated this entire charade.
"Why, Shantel?" Marvin pressed further, his voice filled with frustration. "Why did you agree to go along with this plan?"
Shantel looked down, her guilt evident in her demeanor. "Ken promised me a substantial sum of money and threatened to reveal some of my own secrets if I didn't cooperate. I had no choice."
I don’t understand why Marvin's heart ached for Shantel. I knew that she too had been a pawn in Ken's game, but she allowed it. I knew Marvin had always been compassionate, and despite the circumstances, he couldn't help but feel a degree of sympathy for her predicament, but she could have come to him.
"I understand," Marvin said, his tone softening. "Thank you for being honest with me, Shantel."
."I think it's time we put an end to this charade. Ken won't succeed in keeping me from whatever woman I choose to love." Marvin continued.
Shantel nodded, her eyes filled with a mix of relief and regret. She knew that her role in this deception had come to an end, and she couldn't help but wonder what the future held for all of them.
“Shantel, I will make you an offer. You will keep this a secret between us. We will continue to play our part till I give you further instructions,” Marvin said.
“No, Marvin, I can no longer play in the shadow of deception and lies,” Shantel replied.
“So you want me to tell Ken about his schemes with you if that would not be good for you,” Marvin said.
Okay, I will take your offer, but after this, I want to get away from this country and you will double whatever Ken is giving me,” Shantel replied.
Say no to it Marvin, you got them, keep squeezing their balls, I thought, but my dear Marvin was naturally too soft for this type of life. I wondered how he became successful in doing business.
“Deal! Go ahead and tell Ken you have got a date with me and that I insisted that it would be your place,” Marvin said.
“What? That is too extreme” Shantel replied.
I saw Marvin walk over to where Shantel was sitting. “You must want Ken to want to believe you got me under control, right,” he said. I could not hear what Shantel said but with the movement of her head, I guessed she was nodding in the affirmative.
I was still watching them and laughing when Rose came into my office unexpectedly. "Can I see the movie you are watching, Cass?" She asked.
Oh, it's nothing, why are you here? I asked.
