CHAPTER 49: THE PLAN

In the morning before I could have my bath, Larry called informing me of every detail I should know about the day’s task. He told me that due to the issue with the Martinez Gang. Lisandro had increased his personal guards from two to four and he hardly left town.

Lisandro was also smart. He knew that as long as Sancho was still alive he had to be careful too. Larry told me that when there was no hit on me. Lisandro had ordered the capture of Sancho.

I asked Larry if he knew where Sancho would be hiding. He said no, but gave me the assurance that he was alive and hiding somewhere. I asked him to try and get to Sancho because Lisandro’s men would be looking too. After all, if Sancho dies our plan would die with him.

Larry asked if the Contractor had called and I said no. He told me to ensure that the task is completed today. If the Contractor calls before the task is done, then I cannot complete the task and we lose out completely.

I assured Larry that I was ready, though I told him about what happened the previous day and how I felt a little dizzy. Larry laughed, I could hear him say some things that were not audible. When I asked him what he said, he told me that there were butterflies in my stomach, and I joined him too.

I took my bag and put in the necessary weapons. Larry had given the details and I went over everything again in my head. With six personal guards, it would be a difficult job.

“You know Lisandro would be expecting you,” Larry said.

“It could be anybody and not me. I need a change of plan,” I said.

“Why would you want to do that?” Larry asked.

“Because he now has six guards with him and not two. You said he would be expecting me,” I said.

“Unless you want to go into the headquarters again,” Larry said.

“I think that would be my best option, but I do not want to do it in the night. Can we do this in the afternoon of today? Meet me at the apartment. I will be leaving Marvin’s Mansion now,” I said.

“What of Marvin? What would you tell him,” asked Larry.

“He knows,” I said, as I did not have the time and energy for another deception.

“He knows what?” Larry asked.

“Meet me at my apartment,” I said and hung up the phone.

Marvin came into my room unannounced. I almost shot him and I apologized. Why would he creep in on me like that? He looked tired but concerned for me. He must really love me, I thought.

“Lisandro right?” He asked.

“Yes,” I said.

I felt it was the right time to tell him who I truly was, but something held me back. I knew my emotions were all over the place, so I decided to pass it on to Larry when I met him.

“What is it with you and this Lisandro,? Would you mind sharing? If not, I had better head back to my room,” Marvin said.

I never thought Marvin would ask me about Lisandro. My gosh! I was so lousy. How could I have let this happen? I was not ready to tell him the truth. And for a moment it looked like my brains were clouded and I was thinking right. It took a while before my mouth started moving.

“Marvin, I love you so much and what I am doing now, I would do for you,” I said.

“I still don’t understand,” he replied.

“Well, Lisandro has a beef with Larry and you know I and Larry have come a long way. I am not going to sit and let someone take out Larry,” I said. I had to lie to him. It was the only way out of this situation. I looked at him, trying very hard to see if he believed what I said.

“I don’t get it. You said the other day Lisandro was your mark and you don’t care about any other person. Can you make the two sentences make sense as one?” Marvin asked.

“Yes, I said something like that because Lisnadro knows that Larry is associated with me and still threatened to kill Larry. I warned him but yesterday he sent some men to kill Larry. You know I cannot take that. Larry and I will ensure these threats stop or we do the needful,” I said.

Marvin asked me to call the police and let them do the needful, but I told him to remind me how many times we had called the police after so many attempts on his life. He said it was different and that Larry should report it to the police. I had to tell him Lisandro is not the type of man you want to call the police for.

“Marvin, if you allow people to come at you or your loved one and leave it in the hands of the police, they will think you are not serious about your protection. They will try again and again,” I said.

“Yes, I agree but still allow the police to do their job,” Marvin said.

“Since we started defending ourselves and succeeding when they attacked you, did you notice that the attacks have stopped for some time,” I asked Marvin.

“Yeah, before you came it was certain that almost every week someone was trying to kill me,” he replied.

“People fear force, Marvin,” I said. All I said was true but it was because I had killed every person the Contractor would have contracted and I was pretty sure that Uncle Jonah would be scared of me if the Martinez Gang he hired told him I was responsible for the death of their boss.

“All right, go save Larry, but bring your sexy self back to me. I will be expecting you this afternoon,” Marvin said.

“Okay boss, my love to you and your work,” I said as I smiled and passed him.

Larry was already at my apartment waiting for me. He sat down on one of the couches drinking a bottle of beer. He offered me one but I could not take it. I did not feel like having any beer or soda in my system.

“I need eyes on the ground,” I said,

“I still have the schematics of the building we can still get in unseen if that is what you want,” Larry said.

“Can you do that in a few hours? I want the plan to be carried out in three hours,” I said.

“Why the sudden hurry and change in plans?” Larry asked.

I had to explain to Larry that Lisandro would be expecting us according to him. Since the first plot was carried out in the night, there is a high possibility that he would think this would be done in the night also. We also have not heard from Sancho, which is quite troubling.

We have to rely on initial contacts for the go-ahead. I don’t like it, but it is our only option.

‘What if this was a plan between Lisandro and Sancho to get you to kill their Father and Brother?” Larry asked.

“Then I may have to kill both of them and expect the worst,” I said.

Our plan was ready. The plan to kill Lisandro was in place. I just wanted to get the job done and get back to my Marvin. I wanted to call Sancho but I thought it wise to finish the job. Before I killed Lisandro, I was going to get the Contractor’s details from him. If the Contractor does not want to call his number one, then I should call him.

“What did you tell Marvin,” Larry asked.

“I told Marvin I was going to kill Lisandro because he messed with the wrong guy, who happens to be my very good friend,” I said.

“That, was a great lie, and who is this friend if I should ask?” Larry said.

“You, Larry! No one messes with you and gets away with it when you have me,” I said.

“Awww, I am so touched,” Larry said, laughing as he took a gulp from the bottle of beer.
