Jackson took us to the senator’s place amidst very heavy security. It was easy because it looked like Jackson was a senior security officer. When we got to the Senator’s hotel, he was heavily guarded as well.
“So you are the one who refused to rescue my daughter because of your love for another?” Senator Thomas asked.
“So you are the one who thought he could kill because he is a Senator,” I replied.
He felt offended and his guards took a defensive shape for an assault but I and Larry did not bother. His security detail looked like a child’s play.
“I want my daughter back,” he said.
“As you can see, I do not have her with me,” I said.
The meeting was not as he had expected. He wanted me to get his daughter out without harm as a gift to his wife. I wanted something from him, the contractor's location, and secondly to be his contact for any contract to eliminate anyone.
“What you are asking of me, it’s quite impossible,” he replied.
“For your daughter’s life, I would consider that quite cheap. And you should know I am perhaps the only person that can save your daughter right now,” I said.
The Senator obviously has not had anyone speak to him in such a manner. He looked like he was one of the top people in the Senate. I hated politics and politicians and did not involve myself in such, but here I am looking for help from one of them.
“What business do you have with the Contractor,” he asked.
“I might as well ask you what business you have to be in New York. This is not your base,’ I said.
“Okay, not a problem. Jackson will go with you, I trust him,” the Senator said.
“Jackson is in no shape to go anywhere. I don’t need your men, they look good but, for goodness sake, they are not well-trained,” I replied.
The senator was unhappy that he was not controlling the situation as he wanted. He wrote down some on a piece of paper and handed it over to me. He whispered something to one of his men and they came with some money.
“I do not want your money,” I said.
“Where you are going to, you would need a lot of money. Just get my daughter back and then we can talk about the second point of your wish,” the senator said.
I left with Larry following me on my back like a god. Larry had not seen this side of me and he felt very delighted to be by my side as we conversed with the Senator.
We got to the hotel and Larry moved around, ensuring that it was safe and all of the security and all the cameras were in position.
“This is good, Cassie, how did you know this place,” Larry asked.
“Because you are my clean-up guy does not mean I do not know a lot of things, Larry. Remember I recruited you and not the other way round,” I said, smiling at the laughing Larry, who thought what I said was funny, since he does practically everything and I do the killings.
“Do you want to give this job to the Martinez Gang? From my findings, it is some political idiots that held the senator’s daughter,” Larry said.
“It is a free job, we may need to pay the Martinex Gang and, moreover, if I wish to have the Senator's buy-in, I need to do this myself to ensure there are no issues,” I replied.
We decided we had to do it ourselves. Larry went through the files the Contractor gave me that he captured on his phone while I arranged the weapons and tried to keep things in their right places in the hotel.
Thoughts of Marvin came through my mind. Everything I was doing was for him and he still threw me out of his side. It then occurred to me that Marvin was just mad but he never made any utterances or actions that suggested that I should leave.
Anyway, he is now married and I should concentrate on keeping everyone alive. The Contractor would be busy planning to keep control of his structure and interests and I should be doing the same.
The plan to rescue the Senator's daughter, Laila, had been set in motion. Larry and I had been meticulous in our preparations, gathering every piece of information we could about the kidnappers' location in New York.
The urgency of the situation was paramount, and the life of a young girl hung in the balance while we needed to get it done quickly to protect ourselves.
The hotel was a tall, imposing structure in the heart of New York City, a fortress that held Laila hostage. We arrived under the cover of darkness, our hearts pounding as we prepared to confront the kidnappers.
I was certainly sure that the kidnappers were not professionals and not acting alone. Why would they choose a hotel for such an act?
“Everyone must not think like us, Cassie,’” said Larry, as if to remind me that we were different and better.
“Professionalism is not about choice, Larry. It is about training and knowledge,” I said.
Larry's intel had been invaluable, leading us through the labyrinthine corridors and up to the floor where Laila was being held. The anticipation was almost unbearable as we inched closer to our destination, our steps quiet and determined.
Finally, we reached the room. Larry kicked the door open, and the sight that greeted us was chilling. Laila was bound and gagged, fear in her eyes. The kidnappers, caught off guard, reacted with shock as we burst in. The standoff was tense, but Larry and I were prepared to do whatever it took to save her.
There were three men guarding the room. Larry had killed the first easily when we burst the door. One of the men shot at me but I quickly rolled on the floor and stabbed him as I shot one of the men, the one holding the senator's daughter in the forehead.
The other man I stabbed grabbed a metal but I slashed his hand with my knife before he could even make a move. He lay on the floor with blood gushing out from his arm and leg.
He tried reaching for his gun and shook my head before I punched him in the face. He was blacked out. I looked at Larry. The look was to assure that he was okay. He looked back at me.
