CHAPTER 64: HE IS COMING FOR ALL OF US

“Larry. I want you to look into Officer Page for me. I think he is also working for the contractor but I need a confirmation,” I said.

“Okay, Cassie, if you say so but the man is a police officer,” Larry said.

“Everyone has limits and everyone is corrupt in their own special kind of way,” Larry said.

We went together to go and see Marvin. I was not taking anything for granted. If there was something I needed more it was more guns and hires. I know the Contractor is scheming something and I have to be very prepared for whatever scheme he would throw at us.

We arrived at Marvin’s mansion and as the guards noticed Larry they were in their best behaviors. I called Larry to tell him that we were in the living room.

“Please who are we? When you say ‘we’ are in the living room. You mean did not come alone after all these.?” Marvi asked.

“Remember that I told you that I will come with Larry to enable me to understand and grasp what you are talking about,” I said.

“Oh yeah, I remember,” said Marvin.

It has been a while since I have had any conversation with Marvin we have been so close sitting side by side since after my confession. He was looking more handsome and built. It looked like he has been visiting the gym more often anyway June was someone who does exercise a lot.

“You are looking really well-kept,” I said trying to compliment his physique.

“Thank you, Cassie, I hope you are comfortable with me calling you that. It is not like there was any difference in both names,” Marvin said.

Marvin told us how the police were after him. I asked why and he narrated the story of how his accountants could clean up the mess completely from his company’s database.

The regulators got an anonymous tip from someone and involved the police. They would be coming in two or three days to get the data from their system.

“How do you know all this?” I asked.

“June has an insider in the office of the regulators, she did not know what had happened, she just innocently asked me if all was good with our books,” Marvin said.

Larry looked at me with some concern. We both knew what had happened. It was Uncle Jonah at work and I was convinced he was working with the Contractor.

“How many days do they have before they visit the firm?” I asked again to be certain.

“Two, maximum three days,” Marvin said.

“What I am about to tell you now might be a shock to you but I would love it if you could have some faith in me and believe me,” I said.

Larry began by telling him that the person we suspected that was sabotaging him would be his uncle. Larry explained how Uncle Jonah had cooked the books of the firm earlier to frame him and get him out of the way so that Uncle Jonah could claim the firm and everything.

“He must have gotten help, this is not a one-man job, who helped him?” Marvin asked.

I told him that it was Mr. Ross and his daughter. Marvin never knew that Mr. Ross was the father of Shantel. There was so much deception around him that he was consumed in the web of it that it overshadowed him.

“Are you telling me now that Shantel’s father was Mr. Ross and they helped Uncle Jonah to do this hurt to me?” Marving asked.

“Not exactly,” I said.

I explained how Mr. Ross was going along with the deal until his conscience started Judging him and he told Uncle Jonah he could no longer continue. I informed him that this led to his kidnap and that it was Shatel who booked a release contract with the Contractor to get his father freed from the kidnappers.

“Okay let me guess, you are the one that freed them, and the Martinez Gang was the one that kidnapped her father,” Marvin replied.

“You are absolutely correct,” I said.

“But how can we fix this?” Marvin asked.

Larry explained that we would need the help of the best accountants in the country but that only that they were in the United Kingdom, sent there by us and they have actually grown to be bigger allies.

“I will inform Shantel and Mr. Ross to take the next available flight to the country today. This mess can be fixed tomorrow before the regulators and the police show up,” I said.

“Thank you, Cassie, thank you for everything you have done since I met you,” Marvin said, his eyes teary and wet. He was really emotional.

“You are welcome, Marvin. I want to know that there are a lot of things I would love us to talk about, but let's fix this first,” I said.

“How are you doing, I mean how have you been coping ?” Marvin asked with so much empathy and concern for my well-being.

“Marvin! I am a street girl, remember I told you, I know how to survive,” i said.

Larry called Shantel and informed her about what had happened. Shantel and her father agreed to arrive that same day and get to work immediately after they arrived. Marvi was very pleased to hear that.

“So if my Uncle is working with or for the contractor, that means they are coming after me,” Marvin said.

I corrected him. There are a lot of things I wish I could have told him, but I know some things in the course of the following days will either reveal themselves or be taken over by events

“Marvin, the Contractor, is not just after him, he is after our lives and everyone associated with me. Like I said, I would have to reveal certain things to you.,” I replied to him,

The three of us drove to the office and Marvin had to start to put the documents for review together. He did not assign the task to anyone as he did not know who was conniving with the Contractor or his Uncle to defraud and usurp his position.

Larry arranged for Mr. Ross and Shantel's transportation to their hotel. He knew how to do these things and ensure they were done perfectly well. No matter what you tell me, Larry is a smooth operator.

Marvin and I talked about his security details. He wanted to be sure they were up to par. We agreed that he needed more at home. I asked him what he intended to do with Uncle Jonah because it seemed that his uncle was coming for him.

“In a month’s time, Cassie, all this will be over. I need to ensure that I stay alive to make it happen?” He said, but he was very uncomfortable, especially because he now knew who was trying to kill him.

“I think you should let your wife know,” I said.

“Marvin is married ?” replied Larry in a surprised and shocked state.
