CHAPTER 67: CONFUSION AT THE TABLE

Sancho called, the gang has called for an urgent table meeting. This time I decided to go with Larry. I was not going to take anything for granted. I understand why they would call for a meeting.

I had not given them a roadmap considering the fact that I had influenced them to cut off business ties with the Contractor. I also know in certain conditions like this some table members would love to play their cards to overthrow Sancho.

I was not going to give in to anything but the status quo and I didn’t mind killing all the table members to achieve my aim.

“Larry please load up, the gang has called for an emergency meeting and I do not like the sound of it,” I told Larry, loading up as well.

“I thought at meetings like this there are no weapons. Why take any,” Larry said.

“Please Larry, can you improvise? I do like the timing of this meeting. I was supposed to meet with Sancho today but he called me before I could call him to inform me of the meeting,” I said.

“Then, if that is the case, it means that Sancho’s reign is coming to an end. Did he give you any additional information,” Larry asked.

“No, he arrogantly ended the call before I could ask him anything,” I replied.

“Wow! Cassie, you need to call him back, it is about his reign, they must have something about him from the Contractor. Cassie, can you call him now? Don't go to that meeting without calling Sancho,” Larry said, as he now believed he needed to organize and put on undetected weapons.

“Okay, I will do that right now,” I replied.

I called Sancho to explain to him, but as before, he was stubborn and arrogant. I told him what Larry and I had concluded. Sancho was not having it. He repeatedly told me that the table wanted me gone, that I was bad for business. It was when I asked him whose interest my absence at the table favours. I was his only ally at the table.

I called Marvin to let him know that we were going to take a longer time than expected as we had to visit an issue not stated before. Marvin warned me to be careful, thanked me for telling him and said we should ensure we met later that night.

When I got to the meeting, my chair at the table had been removed and I was asked to stand. They had already made up their mind that I was to defend my position.

I knew that my defence would not yield any result as they would still vote me out.

There was not going to be any voting today. I know their plan and it would not succeed. Sancho was a weak leader to have accepted this without thinking about the future.

“Why is my chair removed? I am the Deputy Leader. Can someone tell me what is going on?” I asked.

“Well, we think the leadership is not right and has not led us right, so we need you to defend why we should still keep you at the table?” Madame Flo insisted.

“Well, you said the leadership, so why am I the only one standing? We are all leaders and Sancho is our head. I don’t get it when you say leadership, but remove only my chair,” I said.

“Well you are right, Alex, please remove Sancho’s chair from the table please and let’s get this thing going,” Madame Flo said.

As Alex moved towards Sancho to remove him from his Chair as Supreme Leader, I walked up to him.

“Alex, I do not have any issues with you, but if you touch the Supreme Leader’s chair without his acknowledgement, I will break your hand. I am sure you want to hold your wife again,” I said, looking as fierce as I could be.

Sancho muttered something out of his mouth. I thought I heard thank you, Cassie.

“Madame Flo, you can lay your claims why my chair should be removed before my defence because no one has told me what I did wrong,” I said.

Madame Flo was speechless for a few seconds. No one had thought that I knew the sacred guides of the Table. This is where my love for Larry was founded. He is a master of knowledge and research.

Larry had informed me about their rules on the way and had told me that I should have to be pre-informed a day or two before any defence. I was well equipped for this meeting, unknown to the Table members of the Martinez Gang.

I need this group to carry out my plans perfectly and no one is going to destroy my plan without getting hurt and without a fight. I knew this was the work of the Contractor and I would get to the bottom of it.

“Well, you and an outsider and not one of us. You made us cut ties with the Contractor without providing protection or new business. We do not need you and today we are going to vote you out,” Madame Flo said.

While she was talking, I was looking at all those who were in agreement with her. Their facial expressions, especially those who were nodding their heads in agreement.

Larry looked at me and I understood what that look was for. Madame Flo must have been in contact with the Contractor.

“If you knew you were going to invite me for a defence, why didn’t you give me a day or two to provide my defence?” I said.

Everywhere was quiet. Nobody could answer my question. They knew they were just playing to the script of Madame Flo, whom I feel is under the influence of the Contractor.

I looked at their faces as they looked at each other deflated. I knew there must be a weird reason for wanting me out.

“If you remove me and go back to the Contractor, how will you get jobs and what would happen to your businesses?” I asked.

“We have already contacted the contractor and he has promised us jobs,” Madame Flo replied.

“The Contractor does not have any job to give anyone,” I said.

“He has already given us one,” Madame Flo said.

“And what would that be? I asked.

“To get you out of that chair and out of the gang,” She replied.

“I see, so why were you after Sancho initially? You remove me, then you remove Sancho. Well, that ain’t happening,” I said.

“You have no authority to say that,” said Madame Flo.

She started to see she was losing and was becoming uneasy. Well, I was sure one of us was not leaving here alive and, since I had promised Marvin I was going to see him that night, that was not going to be me.

“I am the only top ten Assassin available for hire and I am not on the Contractor’s side, I am on the Martinez Gang’s side. I think you forgot who I am and how this table was formed,” I said.

“I do not forget, young lady, it was formed in Sanchez’s blood,” she said.

“Yet his brother, Sancho, is the Supreme Leader. You have deceived this honourable table by collecting a contract for the contractor without the notification of the Supreme Leader,” I said.

I moved slowly to the side of Sancho and Larry followed suit. We were now at each side of Sancho who sat comfortably in the leader’s chair.

“You dishonour this table by trying to remove its Supreme Leader and my friend Sancho by thinking you can get rid of me and by conniving with our enemy the Contractor,” I continued.

Now the room was quiet, everyone was trying to decipher where this was going. They all knew that Madame Flo was in a dilemma and no one wanted to join her. They knew I was telling the truth.

“You see, you underestimated me. I want all of you to know, that no matter what happens, and no matter what Sancho does, I am completely loyal to him. And because of him, we have the richest man in the country as our ally, the Senate President as our ally and the most influential family in the United Kingdom as our ally,” I continued.

The room was quiet, as if everyone was expecting something to happen, but I had not finished.
