CHAPTER 107: GET ME OUT

Staying in the hospital has its effects. It made me realize how useless I could become if I was incapacitated. I decided I was not going to allow any part of my body to get hurt again. I was going to train so hard to make this happen. I started feeling the restlessness that often accompanied hospital stays, and I expressed my desire to be discharged. The sterile scent of the medical facility and the constant hum of machinery served as a stark reminder of the challenges I faced.

I could not bear it anymore, it was like I was facing a firing squad in the hospital as the smell of the place acted like bullets shot at me from every corner. I wanted to see the outside world again. I wanted to do so many things that it seemed like I was being caged. It made me realize what those in the prisons are missing and what they feel being inside. I was in the hospital for goodness sake and I am almost running mad.

Doctor Jake, understanding my sentiments, approached with a reassuring smile. "Cassie, I can see you're eager to leave. Your recovery has been progressing well, and the babies are stable. If you feel up to it, we can make the necessary arrangements for your discharge."

“When can you discharge me?” I asked.

“If you want, we can do it this evening,” Doctor Jake said.

I nodded, grateful for the positive update. "I appreciate the care, Doctor Jake. I just want to get back to my responsibilities and, well, a more familiar environment."

Doctor Jake chuckled. "I understand. Let me finalize the paperwork, and we'll ensure you have all the necessary instructions for your continued recovery at home."

As the paperwork was being processed, Marvin and Larry, both present in the hospital room, exchanged glances. They were supportive of my decision, understanding the importance of familiar surroundings during the delicate time of my pregnancy.

Sometimes I wonder how Larry feels seeing that I got pregnant with Marvin. While I acknowledge the fact that what we have is professional, he has not shown any emotions at all. I hope he handles himself well and finds a good woman. I need him to be this mature because I do not trust what Sancho will be throwing at us in time to come. I looked at both men who stood by my side, expecting to see me up in a few minutes.

Once everything was in order, Doctor Jake returned with a folder containing post-discharge guidelines and care instructions. "Cassie, take it easy. Follow these instructions, and if you experience any discomfort or unusual symptoms, don't hesitate to reach out. Your health and the babies' well-being are our top priorities."

I nodded appreciatively, expressing my gratitude to the medical doctor. He was excellent and very caring to me. I wondered if this was his nature, or if he was doing this all because of Marvin. With Marvin and Larry by my side, I prepared to embark on the journey back to the familiarity of home.

With a sense of determination, I was ready to face the challenges awaiting beyond these sterile walls. The journey ahead held a delicate balance between recuperation and the responsibilities that awaited me in both the Martinez Gang and the M&M Industries that I was tasked with protecting. As the hospital door opened, I took a step into the next chapter, supported by the unwavering presence of those who stood beside me.

As Cassie prepared to leave the hospital, the question of where she would stay became a crucial consideration. Given the delicate nature of her pregnancy and the ongoing responsibilities to the Martinez Gang and the village, finding a safe and comfortable space was paramount.

Marvin, understanding the importance of providing Cassie with a secure and supportive environment, had made arrangements for her to stay in a well-guarded residence. The location, discreetly tucked away from prying eyes, offered both the privacy needed for her recovery and the security required for someone in her position.

As we exited the hospital, a car was waiting for us and ready to transport me to the designated residence. Marvin was always the attentive partner who assisted me in the vehicle, ensuring my comfort.

"Marvin, where are we going?" I inquired, my curiosity mingling with a sense of anticipation.

"I've arranged a place for us, Cassie. It's secure and away from the spotlight. You need a peaceful environment for your recovery, especially considering everything else on your plate. Only me, Larry, and Doctor Jakes are allowed to see you" Marvin explained, his gaze reflecting a mix of concern and reassurance.

“Hmm, I see, you are giving me the contractor vibes,” I said.

The drive to the designated residence was relatively short, and upon arrival, I was greeted by a welcoming and tranquil atmosphere. The residence, surrounded by lush greenery, provided a sanctuary away from the complexities of the outside world.

"Here we are, Cassie. This will be our temporary haven," Marvin said, opening the door for me.

I was appreciative of the thoughtfulness behind the arrangement as I entered the residence with a sense of gratitude. The familiar surroundings offered a semblance of normalcy, a respite from the challenges that awaited them, and something different from the confinement called a hospital.

As I settled into my new temporary abode, surrounded by the careful considerations Marvin had put into place, I prepared for the delicate balancing act that lay ahead, such as the responsibilities of the gang, the protection of Marvin, and the imminent arrival of the twins. The residence, though temporary, held the promise of a tranquil haven amidst the storms that life had presented.

The very next day, ensuring I settled into my temporary residence, Doctor Jake paid a visit to ensure I understood the critical importance of taking care of myself during this pregnancy. This is what I despise about pregnancy and, because I had been shot across my stomach, the doctor was not taking anything for granted. The tranquil surroundings of the residence offered a serene backdrop for this crucial conversation.

"Good to see you settling in, Cassie," Doctor Jake began, his demeanor a blend of professionalism and genuine concern. "Now, let's talk about the importance of self-care during this delicate stage of your pregnancy."

I nodded, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. "I know, Doctor Jake. I want to do everything necessary to ensure the well-being of the babies."

Doctor Jake took a seat, adopting a reassuring tone. "That's the spirit, Cassie. First and foremost, follow the care instructions I provided earlier. Regular check-ups will be essential to monitor both your health and the babies' development. Any signs of discomfort, unusual symptoms, or complications should be reported immediately."

I listened attentively, understanding the significance of the guidance I was receiving. "I'll make sure to stay vigilant and communicate any concerns promptly."

Doctor Jake continued, "Maintain a balanced diet, ensuring you're getting the necessary nutrients for both you and the babies. Light, and regular exercise, as approved by me, will contribute to your overall well-being. And, of course, adequate rest is crucial. Your body is working hard, and you need the energy for the journey ahead."

I nodded in agreement, realizing the responsibility that came with nurturing two lives within her. "I'll prioritize my health and the babies above everything else."

Doctor Jake concluded the discussion, "Remember, Cassie, the choices you make now will have a lasting impact. Neglecting your well-being could lead to complications. We're here to support you, but your active participation in self-care is paramount."

As Doctor Jake left the residence, I reflected on the gravity of the situation. The choices I made in the coming months would not only shape my own health but also determine the well-being of the twins growing within me.

Determined to navigate this journey with diligence and care, I prepared for the delicate balancing act that lay ahead, knowing that my well-being was intrinsically tied to the health of the Martinez Gang, the Company, and the family she was building with Marvin.
