CHAPTER 112:. TEARING US APART

As Larry and I returned to the safe house I asked him if he had told the Table Members of the Martinez Gang the location of the Contractor, and he said he had but had given them the wrong location because he did not trust anyone.

"That's thoughtful of you," I said.

"What do you intend to do?" Larry asked me.

"I intend to finish what I started. It is time for the Contractor to go home," I said.

"I do not think Marvin would like the risk you are taking. You have to consider the risk involved. If anything should happen to you, he will not forgive himself," Larry said.

That is the thing about this complexity. Everyone knows I am the only one that can probably take down the contractor, yet they don't want me to engage him because I may be in danger due to my condition. Well, we are all already in danger.

"I am doing this for all of us because we are all already in danger of an imminent attack by the Contractor whether we like it or not," I said.

"All I am saying is that you let him know," Larry said.

"Okay, I get you," I said.

We got to the safe house to find Marvin in a rage due to my absence. I had caused some scare, and he did not find it funny as he thought I was selfish and only thinking about results without considering what it would cost people around me or the pain they go through because of my decision.

"It is not what you think Marvin, you have to hear me out," I pleaded with him.

"You cannot be doing this because you think you can. What about us?" Marvin said in anger.

"I did it because of you, Marvin. I do it because of us, to protect you, Larry, and our future. You've got to believe that," I said.

"It mustn't be you, Cassie," Marvin replied, still very angry.

"Then tell me who, Marvin. Please suggest to me who could actually do it?" I asked. I cannot be kept indoors while someone is trying to tear my future and family apart. I would rather die trying to prevent it from happening and that is what Marvin had failed to understand.

We were still arguing when we heard the beep on our phones as we rushed to our screens to log into the emergency meeting Sancho had called for using the emergency code.

Marvin, who is supposed to be our patron, has been joining our meetings because of me and his wise contributions to a wide range of topics.

"My family has been kidnapped! They are tearing us apart, Cassie, and we have to reply now and immediately. I want my family back," Sancho was raving mad as he told us about the kidnapping of his family.

Sancho needs to calm down, or he does something rash and gets himself killed. He should have known that the Contractor was coming for all of us and beefed up his security just as Marvin did. Marvin is not even an assassin or a gang member, but he would not take his security for granted.

"Sancho, calm down, we will get your family, please try and calm down," I said.

"We need a plan," said Marvin.

"We have the location. My men and I would lead a rescue team to get my family back," Sancho said.

It is only Larry and I who have the true location of the Contractor, and it was a wise decision not to reveal it to the others because of issues like this. If he had the exact location, he would have gone and gotten killed and the contract would change his location.

"Sancho, you know you do not have the expertise for that. You need to calm down. Let's come up with a plan," I said.

"We should be planning while time shortens the life of my wife and kid?' Sancho asked.

"You are being emotional, let's reconvene at a later time today, and we will have more information then.," I said.

"How are we going to do that? We are wasting time and my wife and kid may not be rescued alive if we don't act now," said Sancho.

"Let Larry do his thing, and we will come up with a plan," I said.

While I understand Sancho's situation, I was already tired of his pack of emotional intelligence. He would just get himself killed, and the contractor would change his location.

Marvin, who had been quiet all through, spoke up for the first time, "Sancho, you need to listen to Cassie. We all know that she and Larry have had a hundred percent success rate in rescuing kidnap victims. Please give them a chance to help you get your family out," Marvin said.

I knew Sancho would not listen to anyone but his emotions, so I called for a meeting with Larry and Marvin.

"You don't have to go. Sancho is already gathering men to get his family back. Please you can sit back on this one," Marvin said.

"I am sorry Marvin, but I have to go. Larry and I are the only ones that have the true location of the Contractor," I said.

"What! Do you mean Sancho has the wrong location? You need to call him off before he endangers himself and his men," Marvin said.

"I am sorry I can't, he does not have the required skills to attack the Contractor. We need him safe. Larry and I would do that," I said.

Marvin was angry again, he did not understand why I would put myself in danger despite my condition. Why would I want to protect others rather than protect myself and my unborn babies?

"Marvin, we don't solve problems by running away from them. Larry and I will assess the situation, confirm the location, and do our thing," I said.

" Tell me you are joking, no you must be truly joking to put our children in harm's way," Marvin said.

"Would you do it then?" I asked. " Do it for me and the children, kill the contractor," I said, knowing he could not do it and would not reply.

There was a certain silence. Nobody spoke as Larry continued to watch both of us.

"I guessed as much," I replied in the midst of the silence. "Larry, you know what to do," I said.
