CHAPTER 120: LET’S GET THINGS DONE

I felt a nudge within me. All Marvin wanted was a family, but with all that had happened, I did not think it was right to put a family he had not committed to in front of the one his family had destroyed. I would not find closure if he did not hand over my father's company back to me, even if I did not know what to do with it. I just wanted closure.

In a pivotal moment, Marvin handed over the documents and the rightful shares of the company that belonged to my father. The weight of this gesture resonated deeply, symbolizing a significant step towards rectifying the past and mending the strained ties between us.

I knew it was not easy to let go, but he owed his life to me and his family had dealt with mine in a bad way, so that every time I had to think back I felt obnoxious. It was not Marvin’s fault and I would not make him bear the consequences of his father’s sin. He was my mine and in this game of deception, he had played this game his own way to keep him alive. No, I will not blame him for that.

I stood firm, holding the documents in my hands, as I felt a mix of emotions. It was like I felt some sort of relief, validation, and a glimmer of resolution. "Thank you, Marvin. This means more to me than you can imagine," I expressed, her voice carrying the weight of years of struggle and uncertainty.

Marvin, looking into Cassie's eyes, acknowledged the gravity of the moment. "It's the least I can do, Cassie. This is your legacy, rightfully restored."

As the documents exchanged hands, it marked not only a legal transfer but a symbolic reconciliation between two individuals entangled in a complex web of family history, betrayal, and newfound understanding. I was glad, but I knew that the journey ahead remained uncertain, but this gesture laid the foundation for a shared commitment to navigate the challenges that awaited them.

“Let me know if you need anything i the restructure of the company. June is still there as the personnel in charge of packaging. I know you two had some very rough days, but you could need her expertise to manage the firm, or you could hire someone else, but let me know what help I could give when the time comes,” Marvin said. He was so sweet and there was no animosity in his voice that I felt like hugging and kissing him at the same time.

With the signed documents in hand, I wasted no time in taking charge of her rightful place in the company. Calling for an impromptu meeting, she gathered the key stakeholders, including June, Marvin, and Larry. The atmosphere in the room was charged with anticipation as everyone wondered about the purpose of this sudden gathering.

Everyone was wondering what had happened and why I, not Marvin, had called for the meeting. They still had not gotten the news that I was their new boss as I was about to give them the shock of their entire life.

Taking the floor, I began, "I've recovered what rightfully belongs to my father, and now, it's time to shape the future of this company. Effective immediately, I appoint June as the Managing Director."

The announcement sent ripples through the room, and June's eyes widened in surprise. Cassie continued, "June, you've demonstrated dedication and capability. I trust you to lead the company to new heights. Marvin, Larry, and I will work together with you to ensure a smooth transition and a prosperous future."

June, though initially taken aback, graciously accepted the responsibility. Marvin, though still grappling with the recent revelations, nodded in acknowledgment. Larry, ever the vigilant strategist, was already considering the practical aspects of the transition.

As the meeting progressed, a new chapter unfolded for the company, with June at the helm under my watchful eye. The dynamics had shifted, and the future, once uncertain, now held the promise of collaboration and growth.

June came to me at the ladies. She was still in shock as she thought that it must be some sort of prank.

“June, I know we have had some rough days, but you are the best person at what you do and I have to make a business decision,” I said.

“Thank you, but you would have informed me first rather than take me by surprise,” June said.

“You know you would not want to see me even if I called you for a private meeting. I want you to put your best in this and let us move this company forward. That opportunity Marvin failed to give to you is now seated on your lap,” I said.

“Thank you. I never knew you were this considerate,” she said.

We both laughed at our silly selves as we left the restrooms for the ladies. Everyone seemed happy at the moment, but I knew that the future seemed uncertain, and I was not going to handle matters with kid gloves anymore. I was certain that June saw that I was pregnant, and she was going to ask about it sooner or later.

I was ready to tell everyone I was with child, and the child was 'a Marvin'. It would be much easier to confront the truth at this moment than live in the shadow of deception for the sake of my twins.

There was a matter we did not deal with and that was the industry bill the senator was dealing with Marvin. I had to ask him to continue the bill through June so that there would be no confusion with the senator. I knew the bill was for the steel company, and I was the one who introduced Marvin to the senator. I hope no one will play me on this.

I felt a nudge again within me. If Marvin wanted us to be together he should remember all his family had done to me and my family and, for the sake of our unborn kids, he would promise me he would never lie or try to deceive me again. We have so many issues to deal with, and I do not want the father of my kids to be one.
