CHAPTER 121: THE BRIDGE

I went to visit Sancho at Doctor Jake’s hospital, but I did not find Sancho there, so I called him, and he agreed that we would meet at a discreet location. I did not want to ask him why he was being so careful. A man in his position should, but I thought killing the Contractor would have eased a lot of things.

I knew I had to make an asset declaration and I understood the need to confer with Sancho, the head of the Martinez Gang. I understood the importance of aligning our strategies, so I reached out to him to discuss the way forward.

Larry had wanted to go with me, but I told him to rest. We have been working tirelessly over the past few weeks, and he needed the rest because he had not. Moreover, what can an injured Sancho do to me? It was a meeting and an asset declaration.

Sancho had arranged the discreet meeting in a new and secured location. When I got there, I was now certain that he was afraid of something. Sancho and I delved into the intricacies of our shared ventures. Sancho and I were to discuss my plan for the future. The necessary restructure we needed in the Martinez Gang.

"What are you afraid of? You left the hospital without telling me, that's not fair, I took you there," I said as I confronted Sancho, who was surrounded by six men.

"Cassie, it is not about you. It is about my security, and you would not stop me from taking my security personally after what happened," he said.

"You weren't attacked, Sancho, you were shot in combat, and even at that, the contractor is dead," I said.

"I agree with you, Cassie, but I cannot afford to die again. I have a family," he said.

I looked at him and knew he was concerned about something, but, if he felt it, not to let me know there was nothing I could do. There was a short silence before he looked back at me and began to speak.

"Cassie," Sancho began, "with the changes in the gang's leadership and your recent challenges, we need a solid plan to secure our interests and maintain our influence."

I nodded in agreement, "I couldn't agree more, Sancho. We have to be strategic, considering both the internal dynamics of the gang and external threats. We can't afford any weaknesses."

They spent hours strategizing, discussing potential threats, strengthening alliances, and reorganizing the gang's structure. I emphasized the importance of adapting to the changing landscape while staying true to their core principles.

Sancho, there is a matter of asset declaration I want to bring to your notice, I want you to know that I now own the Steel Company. It was transferred to me by Marvin,” I said.

“Does that mean the gang should enlarge its warehouse? Are we expecting more jobs or would you want to run it like Marvin who refused to use our labor force because of government policies?’ Sancho asked.

“We have the government on our side, we also have Marvin too. Right now I am not concerned by either of them. I will discuss it with the new director, though I would want her to run it without interference,” I said.

“Thank you for bringing this up, it is very thoughtful of you,” Sancho said.

“You are welcome Sancho, I need to take my leave now.

As the meeting concluded, Sancho expressed his gratitude, "Cassie, your leadership has been crucial in these trying times. I trust your judgment, and together, we'll navigate the challenges ahead."

“Okay Sancho, I need to see Larry,” I said as I prepared to leave the venue, putting back my phone, and revealing my gun and knives in the side pouch close to my side pocket.

“You always carry that?” Sancho asked, pointing to my gun and my knives.

“I am always prepared, Sancho, no one can take me by surprise, that's how my parents were killed,” I said.

“Sorry about your parents. Your pregnancy is giving you away. Don’t you think we need to revisit that? Remember we have laws concerning pregnancy,” Sancho said.

As I got close to the bike, I looked back at him and shouted, “We need to change those laws, I don’t like them, and remember you are the boss, so change it,” I said, starting my bike and zooming off.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Sancho left the meeting with a comprehensive plan to fortify the Martinez Gang and ensure its resilience in the face of adversity. The alliance between the gang and my endeavors became more crucial than ever, and together, we were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

After the intense series of events and the reshaping of alliances within the Martinez Gang, I felt the need to have a candid discussion with Larry, my ever-trusted partner. I needed to address the ongoing challenges and determine their next course of action.

I was sure he was happy that our mission in creating my empire now looked more possible than ever. I have a great company. I have the government and the police and I do not need Marvin for anything any longer except to father his kids when I give birth to them.

"Cassie," Larry began, "we've been through a lot, and things are still uncertain. What's our plan for moving forward?"

I leaned back, contemplating the complexities of their situation. "Larry, we can't afford to be reactive. We need a proactive strategy to deal with the aftermath of the Contractor's revelation and the changes in the gang."

Larry nodded in agreement, "Agreed. But we also have to consider the personal aspects. Marvin, the company, and now your role in the gang, I think that it's a lot to handle."

I sighed, "It is. But we can't back down. The gang needs stability, and we need to protect our interests. As for Marvin and the company, we'll have to navigate those waters carefully."

We spent hours discussing potential scenarios, and weighing the risks and benefits of each decision. I emphasized the importance of maintaining control over the gang while securing Marvin's trust and stabilizing my company.

"Larry, we have to be strategic. We need to gather information, strengthen our positions, and be prepared for whatever comes our way," I asserted.

Larry nodded, "I'll keep an eye on the gang's dynamics, and we'll work together to ensure everything aligns with our goals. All I want is that we don’t lose focus on this empire we want to build."
