CHAPTER 131: MY TABLE MY MOVES

I sat at the table as the head of the gang for the first time and this time was to sort out issues that were arising due to me being selected as their leader. I told them how I had led this gang to this particular height single-handedly and could, even in my pregnancy, still take on any of them.

Larry came late due to the task I had given him and one of the table members wanted to raise an objection to that, but I was not having any of that. I told him to sit his ass down, and it brought the quietness I had wanted to drive home my message.

Larry's revelation about Cally's involvement was unexpected and unsettling. I leaned forward, studying the information he brought. "Cally hired Jasper? What does he gain from orchestrating my kidnapping?" I wondered aloud.

Larry sighed, "It seems like there's more to this than meets the eye. Maybe he sees you as a threat, or perhaps he's trying to disrupt our operations. I'll dig deeper to find the motives."

I nodded, acknowledging Larry's commitment to uncovering the truth. "Good. Keep me updated on any developments."

As Larry left to continue his investigation, I turned my attention to the internal disagreement among the table members. The unity of the Martinez Gang was crucial, especially now that I had assumed leadership. I decided to convene a meeting to address the issues and foster a sense of cohesion.

The gang's headquarters buzzed with anticipation as the members gathered. Sancho, though stepping down as the head, was present to witness the transition of power. As I stood at the head of the table, I could feel the weight of leadership settling on my shoulders.

"Thank you all for being here," I began, addressing the table members. "We're facing challenging times, and our strength lies in our unity. I've learned about the disagreements circulating among us, and we cannot afford division. We've come too far to let internal conflicts weaken us."

Sancho nodded in agreement, emphasizing the importance of solidarity. "Cassie is now in charge, and we need to support her. Our enemies won't hesitate to exploit any weaknesses within us."

Some members looked skeptical, unsure about the transition. I continued, "I understand change can be unsettling, but I assure you, our goals remain the same. We'll work together to protect our interests and navigate the challenges ahead. I value each one of you, and your loyalty to the gang is crucial. And as I said earlier, my goals remain the same."

As the meeting progressed, I listened to the concerns and opinions of the members, addressing each issue with the intent of fostering understanding and unity. It was a delicate process, but by the end of the meeting, a sense of solidarity began to emerge.

Sancho, offering his support, said, "Cassie, you have my full backing. Lead us to greatness."

I told them that I was not concerned about the territories they argued about or the look they gave me because I am a woman, but the progress of the Gang. I informed them that all territories left unmanned would be reallocated only by me and no one had any right to claim it. They all knew I was not joking about what I said.

With the internal disputes addressed, I focused on the broader challenges, particularly the looming threat from Cally and whoever might be working with him. The intricate web of alliances and rivalries within the criminal underworld demanded careful navigation.

As I returned to my office, the weight of leadership felt both empowering and burdensome. The path ahead was uncertain, but I was determined to guide the Martinez Gang through the storm. Marvin had given me an exquisite office in his headquarters as we resumed working.

Larry came by the office to see me, and it was another new intel he came with. I could see that he had been working round the clock so that we could not be taken by surprise by any of the gang members or rivals.

Larry's revelation about the plot to harm Sancho and his family in Mexico hit me like a sudden storm. My initial shock transformed into a surge of anger as I processed the severity of the threat. I couldn't fathom why someone would target Sancho, especially when he had just stepped down, and his only concern should have been a peaceful retirement.

"Why would anyone want to harm Sancho and his family?" I questioned Larry, my voice laced with frustration.

Larry hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "I got this information from a source, Cassie. I can't reveal the details, but the threat is credible. We need to act quickly to ensure Sancho's safety."

My frustration deepened as the lack of transparency irked me. "Larry, we can't afford secrets within the gang, especially when lives are at stake. We need to trust each other. I need to know who your source is. It is me Larry, your Supreme Leader and most importantly your best friend."

Larry sighed, understanding my perspective. "Cassie, the source, is reliable, but revealing their identity could jeopardize our entire operation. I took a risk by sharing this much with you. We can't expose our cards too soon."

I clenched my fists, torn between the urgency of the situation and the importance of maintaining trust within the gang. "Fine, but we need a plan. Sancho deserves to enjoy his retirement without fearing for his life."

Larry nodded, appreciating the gravity of the situation. "I've arranged for enhanced security for Sancho and his family. They'll be escorted safely to Mexico, and we'll ensure they're protected during their stay."

I took a deep breath, trying to temper my frustration. "Alright, Larry. We'll proceed with your plan, but I expect full transparency moving forward. Secrets within the gang only breed mistrust, and that's the last thing we need right now."

Larry agreed, acknowledging the delicate balance between secrecy and transparency. As we prepared to execute the plan to safeguard Sancho and his family, I couldn't shake the feeling that the shadows within our own ranks could be more dangerous than the external threats we faced.

The intricate dance of power and alliances in the criminal underworld demanded constant vigilance and an unwavering commitment to the gang's survival. I wanted Sancho safe or the gang would be a difficult group to lead. They would all think I orchestrated the ploy.
