Shadow POV.

“I don't get it, none of her files says anything about what happened today at the arena” Lucian threw the white papers into the air with annoyance in his movements but my mind wasn't there, I was watching the woman.

She really was different and that irked me, it also made me curious to know what she was hiding and so many times, she had just stopped to stare at the place where I was watching her from and then she cocked her head each time before she continued doing what she was doing.

Which wasn't much, she gave her sister a beat down, then she left in the cruiser and she had been going around ever since with no destination in sight.

“What is she doing right now?” Valentine's voice filled my ears and I glanced at him, my eyes catching on a bill board from the woman. Elaea.

“On her way back to the castle” I replied, my voice curt and confused. Why has she taken the time to run through the whole city instead of returning back to the castle to rest for the evening ceremony?.

“That's odd, Hmm. Anyway, we can't find anything out just from her files and for now, she doesn't seem like a threat” Lucifer spoke up and we all turned to him, surprise clear on our expression.

Lucifer was the hot headed one and always took things too far but he seemed rather annoyed and tired at that moment.

We all were, the werebeast we're getting out of hand, our warriors were diminishing at each edge of the city and if we weren't careful, we wouldn't be this peaceful at the end of the season.

The werebeasts were akin to werewolves but where wolves were on the smaller side, these beasts spanned six times the size of an ordinary wolf and four times the size of an alpha wolf.

And their bloodlust wee heightened to a whole new level, and at first it was easier for they acted like mindless beasts and was easier to take out but they had recently begun to exhibit the traits of strategic movements.

They knew when to dodge an attack now, where to attack to break through our defences and were still learning more and more and it was getting out of hands far too quick than we could control it.

And I feared, same as the others that we might not be able to control it any longer.

“Yeah, I agree with Lucifer” I couldn't believe I was saying this but we were all tired and chasing after old trails of clues that we know would never solve the mystery of Princess or lady Elaea.

“Yeah, we all need to rest. We don't know when the castle or kingdom would be attacked and we need to be at our best” Lucian accepted and I nodded to his words but we all were refusing to say one thing

Lady Elaea wasn't a simple lady, she created this sort of burning sensation inside of us and each time I recall her force expression at the battle between her and the snake beast, my pants tightened to the point of pain.

Fuck! I groaned internally before standing up abruptly and the others gave me different looks of question.

“I need sleep” I excused myself and turned to leave but Valentine called out.

“Don't do anything stupid, lady Elaea is not stupid and if we don't tread carefully, we just might get he worst end of the rope and you all know how true it is” I stopped at his words and after a minute, I nodded.

He was right, we still didn't know fully what she was hiding or carrying with her and to just force her into telling would not work out well for us.

After all, she seemed stronger than she looked and that was funny compared to how she had brought down that beasts at her arena like a pest.

As I left the room behind, I began for the lifter that would take me down to my suite at the top floor where we all resided, sounds filled my ears and my brows furrowed with confusion before my legs carried me to the window.

I glanced around and found nothing out of place until screams and the sound of blades scratching each other filled my ears and just then, someone screamed and fell to the ground.

Just below me, two floor down. I looked closely and saw it was a Cleopatra and another lady. I sighed with disinterest before I turned to leave but Cleopatra spoke up and her words had me stopping in place.

“Lady Elaea, I am challenging you to a duel for positions” she said, voice confident and I took backwards steps to stare at them, opening my mindlink to alert the others.

“Cleopatra challenged Lady Elaea for her position at the top” I sent to them and shock filled my mind, each one wanted to know what's up and soon, they all gathered beside me.

Each of them silent as we watched without their notice.

“Oh.. you” she paused for effect. “Challenge me for my position?” She asked as if she found the idea amusing as she walked out to stand in front of Cleopatra.

Her left arm were thrown backwards, curved at the elbow and she carried herself like a queen would but also she was light on her feet.

Her footsteps barely echoed.

“Yes, I am. You have no right to reject or refuse a challenge so draw your sword” Cleopatra took on a defence stance and Lady Elaea made no move to change her position or choose a sword.

My heart skipped two beats when Cleopatra growled with annoyance and lunged for her but she sidestepped and slammed her palms into the hands of Cleopatra and she was sent flying into the tree beside them.

Gasps of shock filled the air and my eyes widened with shock too, what exactly had just happened?.

“When I fought with the beast at the arena, where the fuck were you? Someone get this lady back to her quarters and she isn't to be let out for the duration of the whole day” she ordered and maybe it was the aura that she was giving off but our guards rushed forward to help Cleopatra while the female guards picked her up and disappeared.

She turned to leave but stopped and she glanced up, her eyes finding ours but in them, no emotion except rage and fury was in it.

And I knew that rage wasn't just from the earlier fight, she was carrying a whole lot of rage inside of her for someone or something and we were going to find out what it was.
