The chamber’s air grew colder after Chloe slipped back out through the window, her whispered promise of the ledger echoing in my ears.

She had snuck in, her voice trembling with fear after she said Stella’s accomplices tried to attack her at her dorm. The incident made my blood boil, but there was only so much I could do from in here.
