I stared at Matthews’ last message for longer than I wanted to admit.

He always made everything sound simple, even when the situation around us was anything but. I typed slowly, explaining myself, telling him I hadn’t meant for that photo to spread or drag him into any drama.

I added a small apology at the end. He didn’t need it, but I felt lighter sending it.
