"Nobody moves!"

Andrew’s command barely surpassed a whisper, but all of the wolves in the clearing stopped in their tracks.

Even Kael’s warriors stilled, their confidence melting away like ice in sunlight.

The wendigo’s red eyes roved across us, blazing with an ancient fire.

The great chest heaved up and down as it breathed, a movement that sounded like grinding stone.

For an instant, I feared it would turn on us, rend us limb from limb with those terrible claws.
