I moved away. Every step seemed like pulling burdens. The connection stretched, became taut and agonizing. From behind I heard his breathing struggling with himself.

However he did not come after me.

Returning to my room I fell onto the bed. The necklace resting on my neck emitted a glow reacting to my inner distress.
