Kael’s POV

The door to the council room closed, shutting out the noise from the hall. The quiet inside felt heavy and tense.

Mother stood by the fireplace, pressing her fingers to her head. Aurora stood near her, pretending to look concerned, but her eyes were watchful and sharp.
