"You always look so guilty when I say your name," Jace said, a teasing grin on his face.

I felt my face get hot. "Maybe because you're always sneaking up on me."

He laughed softly. "Or maybe you've got a secret."

For a second, my heart stopped. Could he know? But then he winked, like it was just a joke, and I forced myself to laugh.

"The only secret I have is how much I hate carrying these around," I said, nodding at the stack of sheets in my arms.
