Chapter 7

MARIO'S POV

I stepped out of my Wagon and surveyed my surroundings. The landscape was quite beautiful and was definitely convenient.

Just then, my gaze dropped to the old man who stood before me as I stepped out of the car, by my observations, was witty and stricken with age. Beside him was a young man who I assumed was his son.

He was tall, with dark hair and piercing dark eyes. He stood with his back straight, his shoulders squared and his gaze fixated my way.

He steadily moved towards me, a nervous smile curled on his lips. I glanced around and realized that he was the only one in motion. The guards flanking the parking space and others surrounding us were planted in spot, their eyes all fixed on me and my Richard beside me.

I creased my brows, a soft frown forming on my face. What the hell was going on? We were to have a meeting, not a meet and greet. I had expected everyone to be waiting in the conference hall, not here in the parking lot.

"Welcome Alpha!" Ferguson the elder greeted first as he drew nearer. His voice trembled slightly, his expression nervous and almost frightened.

"Greetings, Ferguson" I hummed, my tone icy and dismissive.

"A pleasure to meet you." His son stuttered as his tone trailed off.

I could see beads of perspiration dampening his face and his brow, as he visibly struggled to regain his composure.

"The meeting should be..." I started, but I trailed off by the sudden realization that lit up inside of me.

I could only imagine that the intimidating aura seeping off from myself and Richard must have been dreadful for their weak wolves. I could sniff their fear, their frantically thumping hearts and their bodies quivering.

I reached out to Richard, my best buddy through our mind-link.

"Suppress your aura," I instructed him. "It's taking a toll on them."

"No shit Sherlock," Richard smirked.

I could feel his energy subside, his power shriveling to make them feel more at peace.

It was impressive how quickly he had adjusted his aura, making us appear less intimidating to Ferguson, the one else I needed to talk to before the elders' meeting in a few days.

He came with his son. That was a good sign.

I could see the immediate change in their stances, demeanors, and composure, their bodies seemed more relaxed, their eyes less horrified.

As the Alpha aura faded, the young man cautiously approached me, extending his hand for a handshake.

"I'm honored to be here." he grinned as I shook his hand, giving him a brisk nod of acknowledgment.

"Can we head inside if you don't mind? " Ferguson said, his voice welcoming. "The meeting is why we're all here!

I nodded, keeping my expression neutral as I followed him with Richard by my side.

"Nice" Richard hummed with a smile tugging his face at the serenity of the complex building. Ferguson was doing a great job.

As soon as we entered the conference hall, the atmosphere in the hall became tense, with the three men in suits staring at us in rapt silence as they sprang to their feet.

I arched an eyebrow, amused by the effect I was having on them. It seemed that rumors had spread far and near and they were all eager to see what I had had in mind for the meeting.

Walking steadily, I stood in the middle of the hall.

My gaze met with that of Ferguson, he had a broad smile on his face as he approached his seat.

Richard took a seat and I found my spot at the head of the table. Instantly, my coffee was served to me just how I liked it black and strong.

I took a sip and relished it. I looked at the men before me in the conference hall.

Introductions were made with ease and after the introduction, we got into the deal why we were all gathered in the conference room.

Discussing business has always been the most interesting part of my existence and the most interesting part of my task as an Alpha.

Moments like this were when the rate of the Pack was decided and the way forward of the Pack. But today's meeting wasn't about the Pack.

It was about me.

Ferguson's son Ian was one of the Pack doctors and I had specifically demanded his presence here.

He slid a file towards me and I gave it a careful study.

"Ian is the best when it comes to fertility and sterility. You must be so proud." One of the men beamed at Ferguson as I studied the results of the fertility test I had taken a few days ago.

I was satisfied with the results. I talked lightly about the girl in my custody and I instructed him on what to do.

The next day was going to be quite hectic for her. She would be placed on some charts and medication to speed up the chances of her conceiving.

I listened quietly and appreciated Ian's effort to get here.

If things went ahead how I programmed and how we envisaged then there was bound to be trouble.

But my worries were now on the mouthy girl. How was I ever going to tame her enough to have her ready for Ian to carry out these fertility tests?

Was I speeding things up in a. Manner that wasn't healthy?

Was it okay if I allowed things to go naturally? Was the goddess ever going to consider this cheat?

I chuckled at the thoughts as I waited for Richard to say a word after I handed him the file. He nodded cheerfully and quickly roamed his eyes around the file.

His face was encouraging. It was proof I was on the right track and In no time I was going to get the heir I wanted. Nothing mattered to me anymore as the need to have a son.
