Chapter 8

ALINA'S POV

I followed Anita out of the room Mario had offered me to stay in. Although my stomach rumbled and churned in a way that suggested I was starving, I managed to keep up with Anita's hurried steps.

She would stop now and then to offer me an encouraging smile before she continued moving in her tracks.

My hopes of getting breakfast that morning made me double up my steps because I was hoping to go get something to eat but from the look of things that was unlikely because I was going to work and no one said anything about serving me breakfast. That was just how mean everyone around here was.

You know when we go to our destinations and if you girls were scoring around going about the duties my gaze darted around the entire cooking area.

When the girls saw me they looked up from their duties for a while and considered me as I walked into the cooking area. I offer them a small smile.

I tried not to let my nervousness show because I was very nervous as I got into the cooking area.

Most of them stared at me in a manner that suggested they knew who I was in the pack.

Anita looked back at me, she offered me another small smile as we went into the pantry, and from there we saw Martha who was dishing out instructions to one of the girls when she us, me, in particular, she frowned, from that second I realized that she did not like me so I kept my distance but then since Mario had told her to take me, I walked up to her and her eyes narrowed my way.

"You are late!" Martha barked at me the second I got to her.

I thought of the various ways I could reply to the lady without being rude. Instead, I bit my tongue and allowed it to go.

But Martha looked riled up by my silence and her anger seemed to double up.

She moved from the girl she was speaking to and she came directly at me and before I saw it coming, her hand struck my cheek.

Before I could recover from the shock and pain on my face, she yelled at me all over again

"Why are you late?"

I fought my anger, I wanted to pounce on and shred this lady to pieces but then I held elf and I knew things were going to get worse if I retaliated. My wolf was weak and it could double that hate in Alpha Mario's heart if he realized I was already stirring up trouble during chores.

So instead, I remained silent and this made her even more angrier and frustrated.

Again, I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of mellowing at her feet, I remained silent again.

When I didn't say anything she gave up and spoke condescendingly to me.

"For today, you are going to scrub the toilet and I want a speckless job!"

It wasn't any deal for me, I had scrubbed toilets in the past and this one time would not make me lose my fingers.

I shrugged, moving away from her in a futile attempt to find the toilets myself.

This little action of mine seemed to bruise Martha's ego and she couldn't stand it, she growled at me,

"The nerves of you to walk out on me!"

I pause and glance back at her over my shoulder. Her face was flushed with rage and her lips were crimped with displeasure.

I just didn't know what the problem was. Mario only commanded her to show me my chores and not boss me around.

"You put on such an attitude next time and I will not hesitate to hit you with the silver whip." She spewed, "You should be grateful Alpha Mario is kind enough to pardon your life!"

"What is your problem with me?" I arched my brows her way.

I couldn't take a big attitude anymore. I didn't realize how loud my voice rose but when the girls' eyes danced my way, I realized my voice had echoed throughout the entire cooking area.

I was mad. Completely mad. Because I woke up hungry and sore, and having her act in a mean way toward me made me lose it, I just couldn't take it anymore.

"You want me to scrub the toilet? Fine, I am going to do just that, stop nagging and let me be, okay?"

Anita and the other girl swapped glances at my tone. It was obvious no one stood up against her around here with the way her eyes widened at me.

"No breakfast until the toilets are speckless." She muttered, "And for your attitude, I won't hesitate to let Alpha Mario know how disrespectful you are. I think he's the right one to teach you the lesson you deserve."

She moved from the pantry leaving me with Anita and the other girl she was speaking earlier with.

They heaved a sigh and stared compassionately at me.

"You never should have spoken to her that way," the girl whispered.

"She only gets this mad when we talk back to her," Anita added.

It never mattered to me if she was mad or not. How about the way she treated me? She struck me on my face and still had the right to be mad.

I nodded at them for peace to reign and Anita led me to the toilet it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be.

I stopped sulking around and started working on the toilets. The faster I worked on the toilets, the faster I was going to get done and have breakfast.

I got to work.

As I worked, my mind lingered on what Martha was going to say to Alpha Mario and how he was going to react to me talking back to the head Omega.

I was getting whipped for sure. I had been whipped in the past, it was no longer a deal.

Slowly, I began to work. My head was pounding but I needed to get my chores done and have a nice breakfast. It was the only thought that motivated me to work as hard as I could.
