The thing that turned toward us looked worse than what I fought before.

Its limbs were stretched too long, joints bending where they shouldn’t. Dark veins pulsed beneath skin that looked half-torn between wolf and human. 

Claws scraped the stone floor as it straightened to its full height, a wet growl rolling out of its chest.

The shredded remains of an Academy jacket still clung to its shoulders.
