BUFFALO and NIAGARA FALLS, NY

As we drove north along the Niagara I felt a sense of escalating panic. Every mile things looked more disturbed, as if the immediate human and natural environment could sense a disruption in the global one. Traffic in our direction thinned. The few cars on the other side roared past us and looked like a migration. Maybe it was my imagination.
