Aurora's POV:

I can hear voices. They aren't clear. They are muffled and indistinct, but I think I can hear laughter. I open my eyes, blinking brightly.

"Do you remember Demon, Aurora's kitten?" I think that's Aileen's voice I can hear.

"Oh goodness," I think that's my mum, "that cat was dreadful. It was worse than a dog; it ate all my shoes."

"No way!"

"I loved that little devil," I snort. My voice sounds husky, and my throat feels ...
