NICHOLAS’S POV

The morning sunlight spread across the walls, shining softly, but I didn’t feel its warmth.

For days now, the air between Ava and me felt heavier than any fight we’d ever had, all because of my foolishness.

Every time I passed her, she quickly looked away, cold and withdrawn, as if I had put a barrier between us she couldn’t break. Maybe I really did.
