I was in the kitchen when the front door opened.

I wasn’t expecting it and nobody told me anything.

I had spent the last few days not knowing what was happening, or knowing where Nicholas was.

I didn’t even know if he was alive or lying somewhere bleeding with nobody around him.

And then the door opened and the girls started screaming.
