I chose the venue carefully.

It wasn’t the company headquarters or a hotel ballroom.

I chose the steps outside the Williams Group building on Fifth Avenue, where my father had stood twenty years ago when he announced the company’s first major acquisition.

Where the name meant something before any of us were old enough to fight over it.
